In the event that FOW does not sponser and host the typical two or three track events at Summit Point this year, there should be a lot of drivers looking for alternative sponsors or even venues. Hopefully, new management will continue to sponsor events, either at Summit Point or perhaps the new NJ Motorsports Park. If it doesn't, I understand there is a chance that PCA Potomac region, may open up its DE events to non-Porsches.

Any other ideas for us frustrated race drivers, that want to drive our cars as they should be, with reasonable risk and cost considerations?

You could always join the FCA-NC chapter at VIR. I believe they have an event the first week of March. I hear good things about that group.

Non-Porsches are already allowed in PCA, though Porsche owners get early access to event registration. I just checked the drivers list for my first event this year, the Zone 2 @ VIR March 14-16. There are plenty of other brands, including a 360 Challenge car.

Actually depends on chapter. I have run with Schattenbaum PCA, but cannot with Potomac chapter, which has the most track time in this area.

I did a Chinn Motorsports event at VIR about a year ago, and it was great.

Go to www.motorsportsreg.com and look at the calendar. You can see all kinds of events that you can run without a Porsche. By the way while your there check out that registration has just opened at the NJMP for a October Delaware club PCA event. No PCA membership is required nor are you required to drive a Porsche. Its a three day event. Friday advanced driver open track day. Saturday/Sunday being for Novice and advanced in the traditional run group format. For more information beyond that which is on the www.mortorsportsreg.com site go to www.delawarepca.org Yours Truly is the Track event chair and I guarantee a good time will be had by all. You can always do a FATT day. Friday At The Track at Summit Point raceway. It's $250. Anyone can go with any car. It's pretty good. Not as good as going with the ferrari club; but still good and worth it. http://www.summitpointfatt.com/

I'm sure most people have considered this... but the NASA-Mid Atlantic region is having 4 events at Summit point this year (first one is the end of April), and 7 more events at VIR this year. Excellent format, but lots of people, gives you plenty of options as far as how serious you want to be goes. The one draw-back may be the $50/year membership fee (which includes a 1 yr subscription to Grassroots Motorsports magazine). If you want to get right in to the more advanced groups and you aren't a member yet, they will probably ask for a list of track events and clubs that you have participated in before.

Just in case you want to take a look... http://www.nasaracing.net/#RoadRacing

the new NJMP is on NASA Northeast's schedule a couple times towards the end of the year, and they also run Pocono, Watkins Glen, and Lime Rock if you are interested in those tracks.

    http://www.nasanortheast.com/schedule.html

The $50 membership fee is for the national NASA organization and is good for any region, so you would not need to pay it twice if you want to participate in events run by multiple regions...

I personally run time trials with Mid Atlantic and South East regions (when I get the chance), and will be getting my instructor training at VIR next weekend, so if you just happen to be looking for something that offers a little more than the standard club event, NASA might be for you.
