http://www.q8car.com/newsite/cars/english/main.asp?WebPage=CarDetails&id=77290 First 355 I've sen for sale in Kuwait in almost 2 years.... no affiliation, etc. Asking price is: (just over) $52K It looks like someone has installed a 'pininfarina' script under and to the right of the Cavalino on the rear panel... According to the ad, 'recent engine out service and belt change" and new clutch. Also, two-tone interior Red and Creama.... Don't know for sure, but I believe it's Euro (Gulf) spec... also don't know what year it is... but it is a manual transmission. Mike in Kuwait
Somone who knows much more than I will have to speak up... Is it maybe a 360 steering wheel? Mike in Kuwait
I'll give the guy a call and try to go see it over the next day or two and get more details on the car.... Mike in Kuwait
Mike, looks like a nice color combo, there is a 355 spider local here that was pininfarina's own personal car, it also has a red steering wheel. Very distinctive. Are you looking at buying this Mike?
Hi James, No...I"m waiting for a US Spec car that I can easily ship back to the US... but, this one appears to be well-maintained, and reasonably priced... just thought everyone might enjoy seeing it... there are probably less than a dozen 355s left in Kuwait... to the best of my knowledge... and the interior color combination is, I think, quite unusual. Mike in Kuwait
Agreed, unusual is a very good way to put it Are you still thinking of a jellybean (360 ) or have the timeless lines of a 355 swayed you in their direction? How much longer do you have in Kuwait?
I'm thinking Jellybean .... but you are right, the 355 is timeless, classic, and hard to beat..! I'll have been here for 19 years this year.... I'm figuring another 5 or 6 should do it.... unless my retirement fund stays where it is now (which is abour 40% of where it was a year ago....) But, can't complain... at least I didn't have all my retirement tied up in one place or in one investment vehicle... or with Bernie Madeoff.... It COULD easily be at zero.... so, I'm thankful. And, I believe it will come back up in four or five years. Mike in Kuwait
I like your thinking, more of the world should have this attitude. There is a nice yellow jellybean (hang on, did I just say nice and jellybean in the same sentence?) coming up for auction locally, it will be very cheap. Lots of deals out there at the moment, you are shopping at the right time. Good luck with your search, might even make a not to bad investment the way prices are currently. How many US spec 360's in Kuwait?
There are over 200 360s in Kuwait, from what I've heard, and I have no idea how many may be US Spec... however, the dealer in Dubai only sells US Spec cars, so I'll probably get it there... I especially love the lines on the spider.... it just gives me that gut-wrenching reaction that only a Ferrari can... Mike in Kuwait
By Kuwait standards and the mileage is also too high, the interior is strange too, I'd pass on it Mike. S
My guess is that either the OP had contacts at the Ferrari factory or it has been redone. The Ferrari Scaglietti Option Program didn't start until 1998 and this is a 1996, so there is no way that the color option could have been ordered through the dealer without major pull at the factory.
