    Framing:
Pete picks out every frame we sell. All of our frames except for one come from a company call Roma Frames, they are located in Tuscany Italy, the wood is Olive wood and it is hand stained and made in Tuscany. Our other frame is called Teak, it is hand made from Teak and comes from Bali. Once our frames have been made they are then shipped to our headquarters.

    Pricing:
Prices on average for Pete's work ranges from $3500-$8500 framed/delivered, but we also have some shots that are $2500 framed/delivered and we can always just sell the print with out framing which would obviously lessen the price. On the other hand when you start collecting Artist Proofs and pieces that are close to being sold out prices definitely go up we have $20,000+ shots all the way to his new release ONE which is an edition of one of one for $1,000,000. The great thing about Pete's work is, he releases 99% of every shot at our base price which fits just about everyone's budget. Price is decided on four things, % of edition/Picture sold, Size, Frame and shipping.

Again thanks for the questions and feel free to keep asking

    Cheers,

    Brian Levin

What is the base price for a 1.5 meter framed/delivered? Say for a brand new release? Collector discount seeing as how I own 3 pieces already??

Ok folks, I pulled the trigger and purchased another Peter Lik piece last night. I am happy to say I made the purchase from Brian at the La Jolla Gallery. All I can say is if you are going to make a Lik purchase, contact him! I purchase a 1.5 size of Garden of Eden framed. It's a wonderful autumn scene.

    Thanks again Brian!

Hi Brian - I just picked up two of Peter's works from a former collector. Was wondering if I could find out whether they are sold out editions and whether there is a process for getting Certificates of Authenticity in my name.

    Thanks.

does he have a gallery in ZION
right in the same space where they show a movie about Zion- I remember seeing that red canyon photo
He's stuff is pretty great- i think he takes it with a giant old school camera- lugs the thing out to the middle of nowhere up cliffs- into caves
and waits for the perfect time of day to snap
I think he might have a gallery in Vegas as well
these are things I'm sure i could discover on google in about 15 seconds- but sometimes it just feels nice to feel the keys against your fingers
    -makes you feel alve

Check out Peterlik.com some pretty cool images and also says where all of the galleries are. He uses a Linhof camera I believe from 1941. His galleries are amazing!

No kidding his galleries are intense! I wish he more stuff at the $400-$600 range, I'd love to pick up something of his. :)

Btw, I was checking out his biographical pictures on his website, and theres a picture of him next to a 360, so maybe he owns one?

nice shots. I am curious though, what is the investment value? I mean if i can just buy them directly from the gallery, how would yours be the same/more valuable? Just asking cause you brought it up. I'm not understanding.

'Beyond Paradise' - my favorite Peter Lik piece. That was what we planned on buying before we came across the ones we purchased from a former collector. Assuming it doesn't sell out, it will be the next one we buy as it is a constant reminder of our annual winter trek to the Keys.

The gallery raises prices as more and more of the limited edition are sold. If you are one of the first purchasers of a given piece they can be very reasonable. As they near getting sold out, the prices get to well more than 10x original prices.

That is correct. As more and more of the pieces sell out, the prices increase because of the exclusivity. If a piece sells out, the piece goes up higher. For example, when the piece "Ghost" came out, it was probably offered around $1000. It is currently worth well over $20,000.

Just as a side note, we own 4 pieces and have owned them not even a year yet and the prices have risen to where they are worth a total of $5000 more than what we paid for the pieces. So eventhough we are not going to sell them, it is nice to know that they are worth more than what we paid for them.

any auction records to support that? just wondering cause i used to be an art dealer and what you can get for your print on the open market could be and usually is very different than what the gallery can get from their retail customers. I don't know a thing about this artist so i can't comment on the prices but i would be quite surprised if you could actually sell these pieces for more than you paid for them. If so, i might have to look into it, it's rare. for example a quick search of ebay shows only two sales of the many put up for auction. The two that supposedly sold, sold for half or less than the retail price. These results are as little as 10 days ago. maybe i'm missing something.

Please understand i am not questioning the quality of this artwork. I am a photographer that has sold his own work and i quite like them. I am a little skeptical about there value as "investments" though.

Quite true - and so is your subsequent reply. From what I have seen for Peter's pieces, private party sales for pieces that haven't sold out are typically 1/3 of current gallery prices - if you can find a buyer. Still means you can make a profit if you bought early following release of a piece and sell several years later.

Your not going to get the most bang for your buck by selling on ebay. The places to sell these pieces are at specific art auctions such as Christies, Sotheby's, etc... Your not going to get the true collectors on ebay. I don't have any auction results for any that have sold. If you go on his website though, you can see what Peter Lik has been awarded. He is the most awarded photographer living at this time.

If you also look on Peterlik.com, he has a 25th Anniversary book for sale. There are 7500 books bring produced and book #1 recently sold for $20,000. The book retails for around $3000.

It's all about supply and demand. If you have something a collector may want, especially a sold out piece, that is where you can make out. When the pieces become sold out, that is where you can make alot on these pieces. For my wife and I, we purchase the pieces because we love them and find an emotional connection to the pieces. For example, we bought 2 pieces on our honeymoon in Hawaii. While in Hawaii, we went to Oahu and Maui, so we bought a piece that was take in Maui and a piece taken on Oahu.

What it all boils down to is you have to buy what you love and can live with if you were never to sell it or make money on it. If for some reason you are able to sell it for a profit somewhere down the line, then it's a plus.

    Mike

Hey WAR did you get your pieces in yet?
