    Car is actually blue.

It's not "beat up" it's a used car that was tracked alot as it should be!

Car has a few nice LM parts too.

Here is the description from Bonhams (Dec 08) where it was a no sale. Current owner bought it in 2007:

Chassis number ‘91502’ was delivered new in Germany via the Ferrari dealer Autobecker on 30th June 1992, enjoying three owners before coming into the immediately preceding owner’s possession in July 2000. The latter spent circa €85,000 on modifying the car to 3.6-litre ‘LM’ (Le Mans) specification, this work being undertaken during 2006-2007 by respected Ferrari specialists Euromotor, in Padova, Italy (invoices available). The engine has been prepared to racing specification and the turbocharger’s inter-coolers are now independent of the engine’s cooling system, offering increased reliability. Running gear has been up-rated appropriately, featuring Bilstein dampers fitted with Eibach springs front and rear complemented by Brembo racing brakes. Wheels are of 17” diameter shod with 235/35 tyres, while other noteworthy features include a computerised dashboard information display, fire extinguishing system and racing seat.

The car was purchased by the current owner at Bonhams’ Ferrari et les Prestigieuses Italiennes sale at Gstaad in December 2007 (Lot 215) and is offered fresh from recent full servicing in Geneva; cam belts were renewed, brakes serviced, oil changed, etc. and the car performed very satisfactorily when subsequently road-tested. It is being re-offered purely due to lack of use in the vendor’s high quality collection but this time freshly serviced and completely ‘on the button’.

Finished in the rarely seen black livery that endows it with a special charisma, this superb F40 is currently fitted with its race-prepared engine but comes complete with the original unit (which has done only 3,000 kilometres from new) plus the original dashboard, speedometer, seats, owner’s service booklet and (cancelled) Swiss registration papers. Swiss taxes have been paid, but if the car is to be re-registered for road use in Switzerland a catalyser-equipped exhaust system must be refitted.

    Estimate: CHF420,000 - 500,000

    @Boxer365
Thanks for sharing. The lot info already has been removed so this was very helpful to me.

The F40 is in Monaco at the moment, it is in clients gararge. what i can tell you is that it is immaculate & has had no expense spared on it, it was sold due to lack of use but it never actually sold at the bonhams auction.

It also comes with its original engine & seats & its black not blue! i have an F40 in at the moment from the same dealer that is also for sale, i have spent weeks detailing it!

If it's the car I think it is, it's very dark blue.

car is not registered here and i dont think its been registered in swiss for a while either, i know the owner of the garage well so f you need pictures of anything im sure i can arrange it.

Also going by the bonhams catalogue i have in front of me for the sale in Staad 08 it says its finished in black.

i currently have the original seats out of it in my workshop for cleaning! i have also seen the original engine for this car & it is mint!

If you are thinking of buying an F40 this has to be the car PM me if you need anything on it, im sure i could help with a sale for you.

Thanks for effort and the pm's guys but there is no immediate action needed at the moment. I' ve taken this car in consideration and maybe we will proceed the next step: have my broker accquire information as well as perform an personal inspection. The car is sitting there about 2 years+, F40 prices are softening and I am not in hurry at all. If some has further info's, personal opinion etc. please post it, I really appreciate it.

Back from business trip, so in front of my PC I can confirm that such car was registered in switzerland, then the owner just paid taxes to register it in Europ (in France in fact for something like 40 to 50 000 €).
The dealer presenting the car is "increasing" the selling price, normal (?), compare to what Bonhams tried to sell to me few weeks ago, to be clarified with the owner. You must also clarify the full story of such car, not really clear as of today, but could be a good opportunity after personnal inspection. Finally, the market is presenting several good opportunities today in Europ, have a look on the british market, due to pound versus € decrease and financial crisis, some nice opportunities with full story and "british respect" for cars!
I got all invoices from Bonhams last year, not clear to determine exactly the job done on it, final question: 17" wheels instead of 18" to support real LM brakes, so?

    Good luck

I posted this thread last year as I was intrigued by the LM style appearance and the engine. It is actually a 3.5 motor according to the company in Padova who fitted it.This is the same size as the later F40 GTE, so if anyone has access to the wider rear 'clip' It could be a labour of love to actually make the car a very close remblance to those wonderful final evolution versions of the LM.

I did it to painstaking level with my ex race 1996 BPR series F40 and would have been tempted to have done the same again but to GTE SPEC if I could have picked up the car first time round at Bonhams 07 when the pound was v strong against the EURO.Found out too late about the car.I dont think it is a buyers market for F40's for folk in the UK at the moment.

    Bonjour Dominique,

    Dirk
