F355 6 speed Clutch

Took my car out this weekend (weather was nice here in Chicago) clutch seems to be spinning a little between 4th and 5th gear any recommendations short of having clutch rebuild/ replace?

 

If its clutch slip there is very little you can do, its hydrolic and not cable adjusted. Is it also slipping in the lower gears? When you say put it in 2nd and floor it dos it slip?
Seriously a clutch change is so simple on the 355s. 2-3 hours will have a new one in, its no biggy mate and not remotly expensive if you do it your self And its an esy DIY job to boot

 

It is not slipping in the lower gears that I notice But between 4th and 5th at higher rpm 4000 -5000 when I change gears the RPM stays at the highr level.

 

You need a clutch!!! Don't drive it--you don't want to damage your flywheel also. (if it's not too late)
This is the exact thing my car did. Pulled it apart & sure enough disc was worn.

 

Sounds like a worn clutch brother.

 

It's not that bad a job on the 355. Be glad you do not have a 360/430.

+1, clutch is easy but a new flywheel will run you an AIG bonus.

 

Time to celebrate...the only maintenance reason to be happy you have a 355. yeah!

 

I have a similar problem. Seems to slip on the 4th and 5th after about 4000 rpm. Clutch was changed about 5000 kms before. Mechanic says I need to change my engine mounts. He reckons this should solve the problem as the clutch is new. Otherwise no problem under 4000rpm. Can I drive the car keeping it under 4000rpm till I get the mounts. Or am I looking at a clutch job.

I've got a freshly lined clutch disc that I don't need any longer. I can ship it to you - hopefully that's all you need (PM me for price).

If you want to buy a brand new clutch disc from Ricambi, I believe they are ~$350...the entire clutch pack (with pressure plate) will set you back well a grand easily. Ask me how I know...

You should also search this forum for a thread entitled "Analyze this" - it was from me earlier this summer when my clutch started doing the same thing.

 

i might be wrong but i would find another Mechanic. sounds like he is passing his work off until you replace more parts. engine mounts ?

 

Thanks but I have replaced my clutch disk / pressure plate allready. I'm thinking of sending my used disk and plate for kevlar reline?

 

How many miles since you had it replaced? Were the triple teflon seals replaced at the same time? Is there any indication of fluid at the bottom of the clutch bell housing?

If fluid leaked past the triple seals and has saturated your clutch disk, the fact that you had it replaced will be irrelevant.
