Hi everyone, So, after a recent thread here - I decided and got the Bridgestone Potenzas RE01's from Tire Rack ... 225/50R16 - made in 2006 for $59 each. Thought it was a great buy and Tire Rack was (and still might be) discounting them for their age. Nice agressive look to them. (As a side note, this is just funny and I just bought tires for my regular daily car for a regular price at ETD and they ended up putting 2006 make tires on my car just now in february of 2009, so there you go for that info - might be a good thing to ask shops what year the tires are made in as you can also tell on the tire itself in the DOT serial info) But, back to my original thought ........... my RE 01's Potenza paperwork says the tires are good for Rims range from 6.00 to 8.00. I have original 16" BBS rims that my 1976 308 came with .... should work, right? Tires are same size as the tires on my 308 now. Also Potenzas, but 2001 model of RE13 225/50/ZR16. Any one w. info would be much appreciated. Spring here we go --- Thanks very much, MIKE
The rim range spec is the rim width, not diameter. The rims might be marked "16x7.5" or "16x8" or so. I don't know if BBSs are marked. BTW, I looked at Tire Rack's site a day or two ago, and they're already sold out on the 225/50-16s RE-01Rs. And, just for comparison: the Yoko A-046s that are stock on the EVO are now up to $301 *each*.
I know, that price was great. I can't see any marking on rim sizes except something like 20 which in mm would mean just less than 8 inches - maybe this is so ... hope the new ones fit? Anyone that bought these for their 308's/ or know any BBS rim width, pls chime in ...
If your rims have the same size on them now, the new ones will likely fit on the rims. Whether they're the "right" width rims for that size tire, ... Stock rims on a '76 (according to Ricambi's part catalogs) would be 14 x 6 ? or 14 x 7 ? (the question marks are from the catalog -- Ricambi doesn't seem sure), and the stock tires were 205/70-14. Stock rims on a 328 are 7Jx16 front (205/55-16) and 8Jx16 rear (225/50-16). So if you have 225/50-16 on all four corners on a '76, you've certainly got an up-width tire and rim. (On diameter, stock (205/70-14) would be about 321.3mm radius (797 rev/mile), 225/50-16 would be around 315.7mm radius (811 rev/mile), so diameter is within a couple of percent.) For your set-up, what's on there now at least will clear the wheel wells. (Presuming your current tires do.) Be careful removing the wheels -- there might be spacers between the wheel and hub to make the wider rims fit. Do you have any model number information on the BBSs? (Maybe someone else on Fchat has the same rims.)

If you are taking 225/50 x 16 off and putting 225/50 x 16 on whats the problem ? Stop worrying & drive it..... Anyway it is unlikely the BBS are much wider than the original option of 7 x 16 f & 8 x 16 r (see DGS post)
Hi Guys, Thanks very much. No they are "Standard" BBS rims (Gold basket inside) that you see many older Ferrari's with. Greyboxer is right. I waste too much time researching all kinds of info. I'll just put them new tires and forget about it. I never even thought about any rim widths w. any of previous tires that I bought for any other cars in my life and tires always fit and here I go researching this ... it will be done/ put em on/ drive/ story is closed, ha ha.
