I'd even be happy to get dragged along by a rope attached to an Enzo :D

I'm fortunate enough to see Enzos fairly frequently over here...I even sat in a couple, but I'd give away a kidney for a ride :)

Great thread. I'm glad to see you're enjoying it :) :)

This really is a grea thread, almost imspiring to know that there is an Enzo being driven as the maker intended and not just left in the garage. The Enzo we have in SA is hardly ever driven, merely sits in the museum, never comes to the track, the same goes for the F50 and the 288 GTO the owner owns, such a pity.

I have been lucky enough to sit in an Enzo and even that was a special experience....

Thank you for posting your thoughts and pictures of your cars.

When I was flying to San Diego last August I sat next to a woman who was moving there to work for a company called Wind Zero. Wind Zero is planning on opening up a 6 mile+ race track and it is going to be called Coyote Wells Race Resort. It is going to be located 90 miles east of San Diego. Here is a link to their website where you can read more about the Race Resort.

    http://www.wind-zero.com/

I have no idea if this project is still going to happen. I imagine others in the SoCal section might know more about this. I have no affiliation with Wind Zero. I am just passing on the information.

    Jacques:

The Enzo owned by the Rupert family based at www.fmm.co.za is in fact driven regularly, and driven hard.

So is their F50, F40, and 288 GTO.

The fact that they are driven has been decreed by the owner of the cars (as published by him for public disclosure) in order to ensure that they remain in top operating form.

This brings me to a point I wish to make on this excellent thread:
whilst we all undoubtedly agree that this cars were built for one thing only - driving- the way they are used by those who possess them is entirely up to them and there is no wrong or right way. For many owners and collectors I know, its simply a matter of practical balance, and not a matter of trying too hard to prove anything. Its a bit like money: if you have it, you can spend it how you like, and there too its a matter of practical balance. Some owners are very private and will not announce or post pictures of a drive, or a trip to a private session at the track, and therefore it is easy for you to 'assume' the car is not being driven, whereas in fact you simply don't know if the owner drives it or not, or what venues he takes it to. I made a brief drive this morning in a Supercar and car & myself are happy. Whilst I didn't set any distance or speed records, this is the right way for me at the moment.

So lets not disparage those who don't appear to be blazing a trail, because for the most part we don't know what their desires or circumstances are. So long as we all agree the cars were built to be driven, its all good.

By the way, proof of the Rupert family exercising their Ferrari Supercars is attached below. The F50 was being driven, and they continue to drive all the others.

This was a very fun event, many thanks to Symbollic for another great open house.

Bill should have been named a Ferrari Ambassador, he gave 110% to the crowd. I noticed a shy teenager politely wait for a break in the questions by others to ask Bill in a softspoken voice if he could sit in the Enzo for a photo. Bill responded "sure, allow me to help you sit inside". Beyond that, the crowd continued to field endless questions about his Enzo, his 360CS and the Porsche CGT that he had on display. When photographers asked for a different configuration, he obliged by raising the bonnet, opening/closing doors, panels, etc.

Bill gave people access to such cars that they never might be able to and the crowd really appreciated it.
    Hats off to him!

Here is a video that I took, please excuse the poor quality. I look forward to ELIM's superior rendering.

Thanks so much for sharing your video! BTW, that was a friend's Scuderia Red CS, mine is Rosso Corsa. But I was happy to answer questions about it!

I'll never forget the young deaf boy who used hand gestures to ask me if that was my Enzo. I gestured back to invite him to sit in the car. He quickly became shy and sat down with his arms crossed. But that's didn't last long with some prodding from his friends!

Also many thanks to Symbolic and Bugatti for letting me drive the Veyron! I almost passed out from the acceleration when the Bugatti test driver floored in from a stop the first time. 1000 HP with no wheel spin! Simply an outstanding vehicle.

Another fun event! Great spending the whole day with you and your wife again. The video we had pre-planned will be up soon.

It's always great to watch a real enthusiast such as yourself transferring your passion for cars to others. You made so many kids smile...especially when you gave spontaneous rides to a few of them in the Enzo.

And you and the Veyron? Hmmmm....;)
