How many of you with F430 manual gearbox(coupe and spider) had to have the thrust bearing mounting flange "O" ring seals replaced? How many miles were on your 430 when you had them replaced?Did you have hydraulic oil seepage before you had them replaced? My F430 has 1150 miles and is going in Monday for the "O" rings.I didn't have any hydraulic oil seepage. My vin# was called up for the "O" ring replacement.

I read from your previous post that you just bought RacerDJ's car. You probably couldn't bought the 430 from a better seller. Welcome to the 3-pedal club! Back to your thread, I had the O ring seals replaced when my clutch failed due to a huge hydraulic fluid leak that almost stranded me. Ferrari has a campaign for certain 6-spd manuals and the campaign came out right when my clutch failed. Here is the thread on Fchat: http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=225121

Luckily I got my clutch back so I was able to drive the car home. Took it to the dealer and everything is back to normal. Get it done before you get stranded. I hope this helps.

Don't take any chances with O rings.

I'm back from dropping off the car for "O" rings.Service manager called me and said the hydraulic oil got into the clutch plate and is contacting Ferrari to see if clutch can be replaced because of the recall of the mounting flange O ring seals. The clutch only has a total of 1150 miles on it.I'm getting stressed out about now.Suppose ferrari won't cover the clutch under warranty and will only replace the "O" ring seals?Do you really think the clutch needs to be replaced? If Ferrari wont cover under warranty should I go ahead and have it done at my expense? The car was driving perfect. The only reason I brought it in was because of the O ring replacement.Help me out with your thoughts I'm babbling on and being redundant (I apologize).Ciao Tony

If the service manager doesn't get approval get a name and contact number, call them yourself and be diplomatic. It usually works.

If the clutch really is oily and that service manager is not known to cry wolf they will usually approve it. It has a great deal to do with their respect and trust of that particular service manager. I never BS'd them and usually got things approved.

Serkan.....Does the clutch have to self learn on both the F-1 and the 6-speed manual(3-pedal)? I have the 6-speed manual.

Odd, I took delivery of a factory order spider 6 speed in August and I have not had any communication from Ferrari about this problem.
I checked the notice posted on the site and my serial # falls within the range of affected cars.
Is this normal for Ferrari, do they try to ignore the issue hoping that the warranty will expire before they have to deal with it?

How important is it to replace the clutch if the oil did come in contact with it? Wouldn't it just burn off after the first use? After replacing my clutch last fall and dealing with 3 faulty thrust bearings which leaked, should I be concerned? I didn't have enough time before the winter to see if the clutch is faulty, although I did complain of it feeling slippery from day one. Any input would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Alex.
