Did you receive a call back? Just curious to hear if they are still planning on building the driving track.
I think they are! Thanks for the lead. From the CEO: ...We anticipate County project approval in October of this year and we should be breaking ground on the track in February 2010...
Bill your collection, and willingness to share the experience with everyone, is truly a great thing to see. From the trials and tribulations you have faced, to the great moments, you truly are a blessing to have on this thread, and on this earth. Thank you for sharing the Tifosi and the passion that comes with the exotic cars. Best wishes, and happy driving Ciao!
Joe, with respect I have been attending Ferrari Club trackdays and not once have I seen any of the FHMM cars at the track, I cant ever recall ever seenig any of those cars at a Ferrari Club event of any description. Perhaps they are enjoyed away from the public eye, quiet sunday, early monday mornings....
Jacques: You said the Enzo is hardly ever driven and merely sits in the museum. You are wrong. Please check with the museum directly if you wish to verify. Because a car does not attend a racetrack that you happen to be at does not mean it is not driven. You are also wrong in your suggestion that the other Ferrari Supercars the family owns are not driven. Rather than disparage the South African owner of the set of 4 Ferrari Supercars for possessing the cars in a way and manner that differs from that which you would approve of, perhaps you could applaud him for buying them in the first place, then setting up a facility where people young and old can come and share & dream, and for maintaining them properly including exercising them regularly.
Joe, with respect, having an opinion based on the experiences with the Ferrari Club does not make me wrong. It was never my intention to disparage the owner, whom you clearly seem to know rather well but I was merely making an observation, perhaps my observation would have been more accurate had I mentioned the car are hardly ever seen at public events. I am also unsure about why you seen to be climbing on the defensive to this degree. Yes I do applaud the owner for opening the facility and sharing the cars with all.
Many thanks to Garrett Brown Photography http://www.flickr.com/photos/gbrown37/ for the great road shots of the Enzo and CGT last Saturday: Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Like Dilan said earlier in the thread, Bill is the man. He's very gracious, loves to talk cars, and he loves to share the cars. He's the perfect gentleman whose hands a car like the Enzo should be in. Just a great, all-around class act. And like Javier said, he totally drives those cars, the Enzo and CGT both. Thanks Bill.
You guys are too kind. One of the main reasons I bought the Enzo is to help overcome my sleepness nights trying to understand the mystery and mystique of the Enzo, which is naturally a result of its rarity and many owners not driving them. (Surprisingly my wife was happy about this because I didn't snore during these admittedly concerning episodes). Richard Losee helped me understand the car a bit better in his R&T articles, and I am very thankful to him for that. Is it really as good as some people say it is? Is it really fast? I can now comfortably (and in my restfull dreams) say YES and YES, and I'm happy to help clear that up for other enthusiasts who have helped ever so slightly push up the stock price for the sleeping pill companies due to the same problem I had. But of course it is! They named it Enzo! It was apparently designed by the best Ferrari engineers and built by the factory people with an obvious passion and love for their lost leader during otherwise happy times... the quality is extremely high... the best I've seen in any Exotic, including the Porsche CGT. The exotic doors fit and close perfectly, the engine bonnet requires just a slight tap to close. Maybe my later model is better than some earlier ones, but it sure feels very solid with no squeaks, creaks or rattles. The acceleration and throttle response of the car is thrilling, let alone its beauty, outstanding handing and light feel, and how even non-enthusiasts react to it in disbelief! For me, the Enzo had converted many Exotic hater into lovers, and some of my single woman friends are now looking for guys that like cars! That was last thing on their mind until their knees almost buckled at their first glance of an Enzo only 6' away!
Great write up, Bill. The Enzo draws EVERYONE. I don't know, Bill, if you were paying attention, but when we were parked in Borrego waiting for the last of the guys to arrive so we could leave, a van pulled up at the end of our very long line of cars. An older lady walked out of the van and walked past what must've been almost a city block for real nice cars porsches, lotus, gtr... as she neared the group of us she said "porsche parade" this of course without ONCE averting her gaze off of the Enzo. As she passed us she let out "but I have to see THAT!" If you had been watching, from the moment she stepped out of the van, she was PULLED by the Enzo... A brisk, purposeful walk until she arrived at her target. So cool! As she passed I said something to the effect of "coudn't she have at least PRETEND to look at our cars?" my buddy who has a 996 let out "now you know how I feel..."
Yes, I told a few people that same exact story almost word-for-word! Were you there when we told her it was an Enzo, which she never heard of? She then stepped back and read the spoiler logo and said "Ferrari! I thought so". Too bad we didn't get her picture. BTW, what did that nice CHP lady say to you guys that got your all laughing? It was when we stopped to try to fix the Protomotive turbo. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yes there is an obvious caste system while on these runs. But as long as Niche has bad turbos, I can catch up in the corners! She said, "What? No pictures of me?" as she drove away. We were all on the other side and some were taking photos of the cars.
Even when my turbos are back you'll be able to catch up to me... I'm not that great of a driver... yet! Actually, I thought it was Mike (996tt) who said "now you know how I feel" Tony should have his turbo fixed soon and wants to go out and test it so maybe a mini run?
Gorgeous car Bill thanks for sharing it with us my only problem is you dont live closer so I could get a ride!!
Probably but that's how I feel so I guess I'm not the only one! Anytime anywhere, you know I'm good for a run!
We'll, I was pretty sure I was going to be the only Enzo at the local hole-in-the-wall Mexican restaurant today... Image Unavailable, Please Login
