I was talking to a buddy the other day about this. When you meet up with a group of others to go for a drive do you like having passengers in your car? A gawker wanting a ride? I personally don't mind giving a quick ride, but I rather be by myself in a car when cruising with other cars. Sound selfish or do you understand what I mean? I will give just about anyone a ride, but the last thing I want is a chatty passenger and there's something about just you and the car.

Depends who it is. The most fun is taking someone on their first ride in a Ferrari. Also, I don't mind if a serious car enthusiast comes along.

But, if someone isn't really into cars, frankly I could go solo and be happier.

I enjoy having someone in the car on our cruises, especially if they never have seen or ridden in an exotic before.

But I love being by myself top down open road.

I enjoy driving alone or with friends. I don't mind taking new people for a short ride, but anything longer than a few minutes and it becomes awkward for me.

I hope I don't come off as a snob, but there's times you want to be by yourself with what you love like your car. I guess it's a form of freedom. Lots of times when I have a passenger I think there's this expectation that you need to hammer on the car to get the other person to smile. I hate pressure! LOL!

A lot about driving is the escape... Driving alone and having time with your thoughts and you and your car connect and there is no liability if you err and risk hurting the passenger... I agree that giving rides is great, but sometimes you just need some quality time with your car and the road.

I like driving with a close friend but nothing better than cruising by yourself after the car has been washed and detailed.

Not to sabotage this thread but the other question is: Would you let your friend drive your car??

Depends on the length of the drive. If it's a multi-day trip and depending on the friend, then maybe.

Otherwise, the point of me going on the drive is to enjoy my car.

I like to drive alone. There is nothing like unwinding after a long work day or going for a ride on a beautiful Sunday and listening to the motor scream.

I love to share my glory. If the person is truly appreciative of a Ferrari but has never experienced one, why not give them the thrill of riding in your car? They will talk about that experience forever.

Actually, I much prefer having someone (preferably my wife) in the passenger seat. It makes the drive more pleasant.

Depends on the passenger. I'd rather drive with a good friend who loves cars too, but I can't stand any other type of passenger, especially the sort that freaks out every time the car is driven in anger or complains about how uncomfortable the ride is.

Us non-owners really appreciate your graciousness of letting us ride-along from time to time. It keeps hope alive and motivates us to do the right things in order to be successfel in hopes of one day achieving our dreams of being part of the Ferrari legacy as an owner. We thank you for that.

It sort of depends on the passenger. I don't mind those who can relax and enjoy the ride. If they're the nervous sort, I always feel a need to accommodate them and don't have the fun I want

On some of the organized drives people show up hoping to hitch a ride. It's OK on occasion but I'd rather have the choice of whether I want a passenger or not. Especially if you don't even know the person. Think about it, if worse came to worse and there was a wreck they'd be the first one's suing your @ss if they got hurt.

I was at the local gas station a couple years ago and a guy(mid-30's) was gushing over my car, he was so excited to see a Ferrari, that I offered him a ride and I know it made his day. (he left his girlfriend at the gas station, while we went for the drive, I'm sure she wasn't too happy about it, she was HOT too)
(I don't make a habit of it though, it has to be a real enthusiast)

i love to drive on my own and just think wow...what a machine! that said my girlfriend of many years is the best passenger known to man! whether its a blvd. cruise in the boxer, a spirited ride on a sport bike or a hyper ride in my hot rodded 930 turbo...she never asks me to slow or never gets white knuckled. she just loves the ride and has never forgotten a cool moment while driving together. the best of both worlds i guess.

    best,

    pcb
