    Hello,

Longtime lurker, new poster here looking at a '99 360 with 11,000 miles.
    Is there a 360 buyer's guide?

Not very familiar with this car.

All help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

    Steve

There's a sticky at the top of the page (360/430 section) with a bunch of info that will really help.

Post more info on the car, euro or u.s. model? F1 or manual? Service records, the red alarm transmitter is a most, keys with fobs, what type of grills, kind of seats...

A U.S. model 360F1 5,000 miles with a good clutch, decent tires, recent service, original paint, daytona seats, scuderia shields in my opinion is a $100,000 car if in mint condition. Many will say less than that but take into consideration the costs of a major service and clutch, so if a car is lacking in that area then I would say $90,000. In any case buy a car and keep $10,000 in the bank just in case something comes up, you don't want a negative surprise. This cars are very reliable and you might drive it 10,000 in a year and nothing more than check oil and fill it up and drive. Do get a PPI from other shop than the dealer selling the car and if you're into a stick shift car then clutches last longer and less costly issues to worry about than with the F1 system. Price difference in used car market between a F1 or stick shift model is about non existence.

The age old debate is about to begin again. People without a Ferrari always say very low numbers and people who own them say 'I won't sell for that price', they give higher numbers. Reality is:
    - non owner stradleboy's price is possible but the cars are generally in horrific shape, paying that low of a price will make it the most expensive car you ever owned
    - owner testacojones' price has a pretty good bead on reality, pay a little more and buy a car that doesn't need any/much work

Unfortunately this isn't true. Does anybody see 2002 or older 360s ** transacting ** above $100k? I don't think you will.

Where would you price your Pozzi Blu in the scheme of things now? Only 700 miles when you got it?

A bit more info on this particular car would help. I used to look after a couple which were used as 'corporateday' cars, they showed low miles but had been driven VERY hard in their lives.

I'm sure you know this, but if the last service was in 05, your belts are due now.

Their prices look about 15% too high though. Not sure if that's a game or they believe those prices are market value.

How one would witness any transacting between private parties, above or below $100K?

Everyone lies about two things. They say they paid more for their house than they really did, and they say they paid less for their car than they really did.

Read the sticky, it's a great place to start. And make sure the clutch and 15K are done.

Steve, spend a lot, and I mean a lot, of time in and on this forum to make your best deal. If you don't, you will be open to one of the greatest potential screwings in your life.

so I'm curious, is that what you did before you bought your 360?

In my shopping, I found the technical pieces of this site to be helpful. But the pricing conversations were useless. I never found a good car for the price that people here said they should sell for. Yes, there were good deals reported on, but i think they were exceptions, not the rule. Every time I went to look at a car that was in the price range people said was a good buy, the cars were scary.

Do your own research. Get a PPI. Know what options you want.

    understand the following:
    service history
records, books, keys, fobs, covers that are included with the sale.
    clutch wear
options and colors that YOU want.
    paint work
    recalls that were performed

And then make an offer you feel is fair. Some people want the moon for their cars and they don't care what market price is. but don't miss out on the car you want because you were told on this forum that you are over paying.

Goodluck. Ownership is way better than the shopping process. :)
    Matt

I found both the technical pieces and the pricing extremely helpful in making real life and real time determinations regarding car quality and purchase price. It is the balance of those, as I have argued in other threads, that sets the parameters for the intelligent purchase. Of course, the human factor of how little or how much one values their money is the point which lessens or heightens that balance.

Money thrown down the drain is in my eyes appalling. Others obviously couldn't give a rat's arse.

In any market, offers are not personal. There are no insults only low offers.
