So last weekend I took a guy for a spin in the boxer, he was visiting a neighbour of mine across the road for a kids b-day party. He had approached me in the past to talk ferrari and he did again last sunday. I offered him a ride in the car which he quickly accepted and off we went for a blast. He told me on the drive that his sister-in-law is a real b1tch (thats my neighbour) so I asked him to tell me more! I asked because 4 years ago when I moved in this lady across the road strolled over with her baby and struck up a conversation with me, saw the cars, asked more questions such as what I do for a living and so on. I told her I was a mechanic - her husband is too with his own shop and I thought great, something in common but I never saw them again! Only the brother-in-law (brother to her husband) would come over and gab. So sunday he told me that she was really peed off about me having two ferraris. Her brother-in-law told me that when someone else, a family member, friend, anyone gets something she cant or doesnt have it really gets her cranked up! The best part is her response to the cars, she said "my husband is a mechanic and we dont have two f**ken ferraris!" I love it because now I know why she gives us the cold shoulder. Its funny how some people are big sucks, should I be upset at someone else here that has 10 ferraris? Nah, I can only dream. Anyway thought i would share.

P.- Funny story. Hope for your sake she is not very attractive, because it sounds like you will never get close enough to enjoy the view except for her initial scouting visit.

I hate people like that. I was always happy for other people's fortunes and it only gave me reason to work harder. I hate the line" Must be nice" when people see the Ferrari. I usually tell them I work hard to play hard. And the work hard is usually 14 hour days, 7 days a week. I can say I've earned everything I own.
Newman, If your neighbour worked as hard as she complained, she would have three Ferrari's!

    Hey Paul,
Can we all bring the Ferrari's to your house this summer. That would get her going!

Thats one of the reasons we never volunteer that we have Ferrari's. Everyone makes choices and most make sacrifices to have what they want. Some do it to send their kids to good private schools, some do it to wear expensive clothes, others so they can have a big house in a nice neighborhood. Everyone accepts that, but introduce a Ferrari into the equation and all that goes out the window.

This is what I get. First my wife says:
I don't want to be seen in the Ferrari in downtown.
    My sister will never understand.

When we drive home, I get this:
Don't go that way, go this way!
    What do the neighbors think...
Do you have to wash the Ferrari today?

But, she really loves the car.

Yes thats a great idea, a friend of mine comes by from time to time in either his TR or 308 which might get her curtians moving lol. I drove by her place really slowly as I was taking her in-law for the ride - she is a couple houses down on the other side from me. The fact that her in-law left her sons b-day party to go for a ride with me probably really cranked her up. After the ride he said now its time for him to go take his lumps for leaving when the cake was being cut lol!

I never just tell people outright I have one for that reason which is unfortunate. I dont hide it though, I bought it to use and I know it was hard work and sacrifice as you say that put it in my garage. If I wasnt a tech I wouldnt own them, too much upkeep.

This story is not uncommon at all. I have lost friends over my car collection, out of pure jealousy. (And it was the wife being the jealous one in most cases.) I never flaunt my cars, or anything else for that matter, but they just can't stand it.

    I don't get it...

When I want to test drive the GT-R at the Nissan dealer I show up in the TR. When I need a set of TR rotors turned I drive the Dually or the Cop car. When my son's buddy asks for a ride in the Ferrari, I oblige immediately.....My response, "I'll be pulling in to the driveway in 5 minutes, tell him to be waiting at the end of the drive." In he goes ands away we fly.............I take it quickly to 100+ and back, then through the curves on my favorite "road"! He mentions that his Dad has a Porsche Caymane(spelling) and I nod that I have intercepted the info and I begin to inquire.........He states that Dad has never allowed, or much less offered him a few minutes behind the wheel, and even Mom has never been allowed to drive the German (my wife, by the way, is the one and only person that has curled in behind the wheel of the TR and never missed a shift, nor ground a gear or was intimidated in the least by the beast.......she drove it like the man, I mean Lady she is.) Talk about being restricted and Mom really getting f*cked..............................I immediately ask, "Can you drive a stick?"..........He says, "Of course, my Subaru is a manual!"........... I respond, "Wanna drive the TR?"............He responds..........."Your kidding?"..........I find a pull off, and I instruct him to shift deliberately and in a smooth and slow fashion and the rest is the making of a great moment in this 20 year olds life experience..........and of course........I insist that he mention to father that he drove a Ferrari................Next!!!

    KErry

Everyone should and I will do my damnest to fulfill the VOID!!..........................................
