As we're moving to Monaco we need to cut down on the number of cars (limited parking space)...so we're getting rid our Mercedes S Class and Nissan Navara and combining their functions into one car (more or less): the ML63.

We test drove a friend's ML63 and were just blown away. Great truck. It was ridiculously fast and sounded great (that thing sounds like a muscle car). A dare say it almost *felt* faster than our 997 4S in a straight line!!!

We will be picking it up next week. The car has a couple of minor things which need to be fixed and sorted on the car before delivery.

Now all we need is the Fcar...sooner or later...

    Any other ML63 owners here?

I'll post some more pics/impressions next week once I get some seat time.

BTW, if there are any owners...I'd really appreciate recommendations on tyres (it looks like they need to be replace). Do Pirellis work well on this truck?

Oh...and...is there a good Merc/AMG site/forum to get some info etc..?

    Thanks in advance :)

Congrats on the purchase. One of my favorite SUVs. I also love the way the AMGs sound.

Thanks, guys. It was in a cluttered console and I just knew it was attached to a wire I couldn't free it from.

We picked-up the car today. I only managed to drive it for 50/60km. I'm very impressed so far.

Acceleration is simply awesome. It really doesn't feel as heavy as it is. The engine is truly fantastic. It has tons of power and sounds good too.

As far as I can tell so far, the handling is also very good for an SUV. The interior is also nice and comfortable. I'm really liking it!

I will take some pics tomorrow.

    510hp with 630Nm.

    Nice rig.

What led you to the ML over the X5, Cayenne GTS, etc?

That thing is the bluetooth puck, I have on in my S550, I had to buy a seperate motorola one for my sl55 because it was a couple years older than my s550. It works great, but I have a hard time talking when I have the top down!

Well, it was between the ML63 and the Cayenne Turbo as they both have ridiculous power.

We were torn between the two until the last minute. We preferred the AMG's looks (by far), better interior and the engine is simply fantastic.

In the end we found a good looking ML63 in here Monaco at a decent price and just went for it. We traded in a fully loaded 1-year-old Nissan Navara for it and now we're selling the Merc S-Class privately.

I'm still trying to figure out how to use the Ipod compatibility...I don't know how to change songs/albums etc. It just plays the current song.

If all fails I might have to read the instructions booklet :D

    Hi Carlo, GREAT catch!
If you use an iPhone, you can use the integrated bt for phone calls. Do you have the original MB cable for your iPod?

    Hi Anders!

    Still getting the 500? :D

Yes, I got the BlueTooth set-up with the IPhone already. It works fine.

I checked the instruction booklet for the IPod compatibility and apparently you can only cycle through the albums/songs using the commands on the steering wheel. Given that I have +/- 3000 songs, the buttons on the steering wheel (and the small LCD screen on the dash) are everything but ideal to cycle through the songs/artists/albums :(

I took the car to Italy yesterday and opened it up a little bit. The power is amazing! What a truck!! :D

It's also very quiet and comfortable when you want it to be. So far I'm very impressed.

Hopefully the car will get detailed next week. The previous owner obviously didn't put much heart in maintaining the car's interior. Also, there's a small "ticking" noise in the engine (especially around 1500 RPM). It might be a valve. The car is still under the original guarantee so we'll get it all sorted out hopefully.

Other than these issues (which will hopefully be sorted out in the near future), I'm certainly very happy with the ML63 :)

Good that you solved the iPod/iPhone thing. But it´s a pain to manage 3k songs. But you could have your favs in the phone, so you would have a little easier handling.

The 500 is a little on "ice" due to some other ongoing projects, but if the right one turns up... ;)

Enjoy the ML, it´s almost like driving a NASCAR!! Ha ha..
