Use the Ferrari 599 GTB as a daily drive for sure.

No need for that anymore. HGTE pack took care of that with the new exhaust. Wait until you hear it. You will like it. Believe me.

For daily driver, I think I would go with either lp560 or 612.. I have a new 612 with the new bose system, etc... and this is the car that Ferrari finally got ride with all the creature comforts that you would want in a daily driver.. plus it's fast as hell and you can actually fit full size people in the back seat. The lp560 is a good choice for all the same reasons except the rear seat option. Probably the first car Lambo finally got right with all the engine and transmission refinements.. dare I say, it drives more like a ferrari and less like a flying sledge hammer. With that said, the 599 is a great car to drive any distance.. my only issue with the one I owned was the frekin' ridiculous radio and horrible attempt at a nav system. I did have a the infamous gearbox problem with the 599, however, that was fixed with no other issues.

I can make a little comment on the reliability since the WCD cars probably have as many miles as any cars of their type on the road. Our 599 has been extremely reliable except for one major issue. At around 15,000 miles the engine had to be replaced due to a cracked head and a loss of compression across all 12 cylinders. The car was out of commission for about 3 weeks due to the complexity of changing out the engine. As for the Lambos (Spyder, Superleggera, and LP560-4), they have been exceptional except for our Superleggera, which blew an e-gear hydraulic line that in turn soaked the clutch necessitating a replacement of both.

In terms of a DD, I would say 599 100%. I am 6'2" and fit easily. It feels much brighter with a lot more space. You are much lower in the Gallardo and the center console is much bigger so each person is in their own little cocoon. This may or may not be to your liking. All of our Lambo's have had black interiors, which further enhances the claustrophobic feeling. The 599 on the other hand does not have much of a center tunnel so it opens up the cabin a lot more. Our 599 has a tan interior and like most Ferrari's will show wear on the driver's bolster with heavy use. I would say that the interior of the Gallardo holds up better over the long run than the 599.

In all honesty, if cross shopping for a DD I would would think that the new Audi R8 V10 would be a better daily than the Gallardo. Having experienced the Gallardo Spyder, Superleggera, LP560-4, and R8 V8 I would choose the Audi if it was being used as a daily driver. I think that the Audi's interior is more special than the Gallardo's. The Gallardo's has an air of an A4 where as the R8 is completely different from any other Audi or Lamborghini. The Audi is a great car that should not be over looked and from initial reviews, the V10 sounds like a winner.

I hope that this review of both cars helps. Please shoot me a PM if you have any other questions.

PS - Our 599 has close to 40,000 miles on it now.

Unfortunately I have been behind the wheel of the 599 for less than 50 of those miles. It is a company car that anybody could have the pleasure of driving.

I did forget to add that the 599 is a MUCH bigger car overall. I would imagine some of our European friends might have an issue with it but over here it isn't such a problem. It isn't intimidatingly larger but there is a significant difference between the two. That being said, I felt much more comfortable maneuvering the 599 around the other 5 exotics than the Lambo. Not being able to see anything out of the rear 3/4's is rough in the Gallardo and that can be a little intimidating.

If I think of anything else I'll be sure to add.

    -Alex

PS - A little pic that somewhat shows the difference.
