May have been done before, but what is the first Ferrari you were able to drive? First for me was a 550, nice car, I liked it. So what about you all?

This topic has been done many times before, but I have no problem answering again.

My first F-car drive was pretty amazing: I drove an '85 Testarossa (with the targa top conversion) back in 1994 from Seattle to Vancouver, BC and back. I went up for a telecom trade show and brought the TR up for my boss, who planned to drive it back. He decided to fly back. His son in law and I brought it up and back.

On the way through the border going up, the border guard said "you don't fit in your car! Is it a rental?" I responded "do you know any place where you can rent a yellow Testarossa with the license plate '976'?"

Coming back down through the border, the US guard pulled us over and had the car searched. Maybe it was because it wasn't our car and we couldn't produce a valid registration...all we could find was an expired insurance card!

We made the time lost back up by driving with the speedo needle pointed straight up for quite a big stretch of I5.

Driven six or seven F-cars since then. Never thought I'd own one back then, much less the two I have now.

I wasn't old enough to drive at the time (I'm 15 now) but my first Ferrari ride was when I was 14 and it was a '98 F355 Spider 6 speed manual in yellow. Amazing experience.

I have pix somewhere, on one computer or another...it's amazing how things fall into black holes in hard drives.

The first Ferrari I ever saw was my Dad's real estate broker's in Las Vegas. It was a 1985 Testarossa. It was like a dream.

First drive was the 2004 360 I bought about 3 weeks ago!

My 308 the day it came off the transport truck. Have been lucky enough to know a bunch of generous people since who have given me the opportunity to drive a pretty varied collection of Ferraris.

For me it was back in 2005, drove a 355F1. The circumstances of this drive still amaze me today, was at the Ferrari dealer with my friend who was driving his 430 spider, friend of his was supposed to collect his 355 and couldnt make it in time, so I found myself driving a 355 belonging to somebody I would only end up meeting 6 months later.

For the first minute sittting there, never having driven an F1 I was scared but when my mate closed the door, I fired up that V8(with tubi) it was like being in a different world, there was a sudden calmness and I remember smiling uncontrollably.

What was supposed to be a slow drive accross town soon became more enthusiastic as we both realized how fanstastic the cars sounded in sarrounded by building, 7500 rpm the scream of the V8, the growl of the 430.

It was a hugely emotional and special experience, I still get goosebumps thinking about it...

2002 360 Modena back in 2004 while visiting some family members back down in Naples, Fl. To this day I can remember everything about that car and the drive I took in it. Easily the most intoxicating car I have ever been in (and that includes a 550 2 years later).

For me it was a huge turning point to bring these cars from TV and magazines to reality, sort of made them actual attainable things that if you were smart with your money, and made smart choices you could one day enjoy your own. Up until that point there was always this perceived "distance" that kept these types of cars as dream cars, something that you would only read about or watch. I am guessing I am not the only one who had this transformation happen :)

A friend of mine used to own a Black/Black 88.5 Testarossa. That was my first drive. That car was purchased new by former Portland Trailblazer Jerome Kersey. He had the title with Kersey's name on it. That was when I lived in Portland.

This was about 20 years ago so I'm going to come clean. First drive was at my first job as a parking valet at a luxury condo. It was very tired beat down '85 308GTSQV red/tan. It had a bunch of door dings, worn leather, frayed steering wheel stitches, filthy carpet and although I was no 8-cyl expert the engine just didn't sound right. But who cares? It's a Ferrari! The owner produced films overseas several months of the year. Per my recommendation 'someone' should start the car once-in-a-while to keep the battery from dying. So at age 18 I could be found once-in-a-while driving a Ferrari in the Hollywood hills.

Pap- You and me both. Bought a Rosso Dino 72 Dino 246 GT sight unseen over the phone and picked it up in Poughkeepsie NY and drove it 1500 miles back to Clovis, NM, where I lived. First Ferrari I had sat in or driven and it was mine for $10,600. Hard to afford on a 1Lt's USAF pay. Need to scan those early photos.
