I know this was the infamous problem on 360s, but I seem to have this problem as well on my 2007 430. When the light came on the first time around, I had tighten the gas cap and CEL went away the next time I started the car. Recently, the CEL came back on again after I refueled, so I tighten it again. However, this time it stayed on, even after 3 cycles of starting and shutting off the engine. Does any other 430 owners have this problem? Btw, the car drives perfectly fine.

I assume it is like most OBDII systems in that simply starting and shutting off the car is not sufficient. It requires a full drive cycle (or 3?) with the cap closed properly.

I had a CEL once after refueling and thought it was probably a loose gas cap but continued driving didn't make it go out. I continued to drive it for months since the car ran fine and I'm about 125 miles from the dealer. When I got finally got the car in the codes were: PO464, P2069 fuel level sensors and U0142, U0144 communication with control module errors. The tech cleared them and I've had no recurrence so far (about 1 year).

Make sure that the rubber gasket on the inside of the gas cap is still in place and not corroded. Some times it can even fall out without you even knowing it if it has deteriorated badly enough. That trips the sensor and will keep the light on even after you tighten the cap. The gasket can get damaged by overtightening too.

In other words always make sure your rubber is on and working properly!

They claim that they just fixed mine. They said that it was a loose O2 sensor. Time will tell.

I also had a bad connection in my evaporation system that they corrected. Who knows . . . .

If it's bad, can you buy just the gasket or must you buy the whole gas cap? TIA

You could do it easier with some form of gas!

Had the same exact problem on my 07 F430. Brought it in to my dealer who took care of it - once and done. Not sure if it's an official "campaign", but it seemed to be a well known issue at the dealer; involved a sensor adjustment or replacement (not sure which). Hope this helps.
