Hi Guys Great web site just came across it Has any one a 412i engine, engine block or know where I can find one for sale?? been looking a while. Tks
So that's enough damage to part the car out???? Those oil filters have seen better days. I wonder if they're the 2nd set in all of its 65,000 mi.?
If just a block will do, I think the 365 and 400 blocks are pretty much the same. It's the 1mm smnaller cylinder liner bore that makes a 365/400 diferent from a 412 and it's a simple matter to bore the liners to 82mm. That will broaden your search quite a bit. 400s seemed to be pretty common when I was shopping last year and they have the same crank as the 412 so it's just the bore size to convert one.
Fred Petroske in upstate NY is parting out a 1983 (I think) 400i. Don't know anything about the engine or if it is available.
Thanks This has been one of those long going sagas sent the block to machine shop to put in new studs over drillid them now only 1mm between studs and liner not worth continuing on with rebuild if i get a new block and finish it off will cost over 10k replace ment engine cost half !!! Cars !!! got to love them tho!
motoclau, I have the time and I suspect the story is more interesting than you are letting on. Are you willing to share? You can leave out the names to protect the guilty... Regards, Art S.
Definitely so. As long as a small little fender bender is enough to "total" the car against a low market value, these cars will get fewer and fewer until, like the 250GTE, there are so few left and there are enough people who recognize what you are getting (no other V12 Ferrari is available for less than twice the price) then the price will go up to where it makes sense to restore and preserve them.
John, Don't get too excited about values. It still doesnt make economic sense to restore a 250 GTE, 330 GT or 365 GT. The restoration costs will put you in the hole even if you get the car for free. Regards, Art S.
Eurospare's car in happier days, real shame whats happening now. I think it was for sale in November 07. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks for posting these. I remember seeing them when it was for sale. Beautiful car! There is something very elegant about the 412. Aidan
And your 400 isn't, Aidan?? lol Those ABS wheels are markedly different to its predecessors. Imho, it lacks the aggressiveness the concave ones characterized. Bruce
Bruce Of course mine is too, but the 412 looks really great as well, especially in the color combo here! Just a little bit more modern, with the neat exhaust moulding, etc. I prefer the older wheels, though. I think I love all 400s, 365GT4s and 412s! Aidan
I pulled my 87' 412 (34K miles) engine and sold it to GT Car Parts. They still have it for sale. You can google the name for the phone number. you can email me if you want the history on the engine. Regards, Bob ([email protected])
