I have a 1983 Mondial Cab. I've discovered that the interior is not all leather. The top panels of the doors (where your arm rests) are covered with vinyl. Also, the windshield pillars are covered with vinyl. My question is about the top portion of the instrument panel, vinyl or leather? The instrument "pod" surround appears to be leather. Correct?

In the 308/328, the top of the instrument panel is vinyl. I'm assuming the Mondial's is as well.

It's actually a much smarter material choice than in the Boxer and TR, where the dash tends to fall apart every few years.

You are 1000% correct. Leather under that massive solar panel windshield makes no sense at all. 928's had it too and most are all shrunk to pieces by now.

for the 328 i was told that leather for the top of the dash was an option. I was told and, my 328 does have it.

I have DashMat cover that I inherited from the previous owner. My dash looks great after 22 years. I use that whenever I park in the sun.

As far as dressings, I like Griot's products, but I'm sure there are others that work as well.

Anyone use a vinyl dressing that does not leave a gloss? I'd prefer my dash to look flat-to-matte finish (more like leather). AND BTW, both my '79 308GTB and my '83 Mondial have vinyl dashes.

Leatherique as a first step to clean vinyl, then 303 Protectant - no cheesy gloss - UV protection - no silicone - I have used this for over ten years (Jeep softtop, which sees lots of sun) with great results - my 308 loves it too ; ) Tires and bumpers on the 308 come out great and very professional - Griot's is great too, but i'm not sure of the UV protection they offer - 303 is equiv. to SPF 40......
