I am having the Fabspeed headers for my '98 355 ceramic coated now and hope to have them back on the car by the weekend. I read a lot of threads before making the jump to Fabspeed. I am also going with Hyperflow cats as well.

Can anyone tell me the adv/disadv of going with Fabspeed Cats versus Hyperflow? Need to replace mine with my 30k in June.

There is about a $300 price difference.

I decided to get the original headers rebuilt... I found the place that QV uses to rebuild them, they dont do it themselves and cut out the middle man. Turnaround is about 10 days and they cut out all the old pipes and put in new thicker and higher quality pipes withthe same bends as the originals. There is a step by step with pictures here: http://www.jpexhausts.co.uk/Site/Ferrari355.htm

Cost is about $1500 total. I anticipate good results but will post again when they are back on the car.

Heck if I new about this company 2 years ago I would have saved over $7000. I had mine replaced 2 years ago with factory ones at around $9000.

The price sounds great for the new headers but what is the install time/ hours for the replacement?

There is a very good company up here in Canada making aftermarket headers(304SS) for the 355 and other cars. About 6 weeks ago they were kind enough to drop by my house to show me the headers on their way to Ferrari of Ontario and lambo to show their product. I have also been talking to Massimo Conti who is no longer working for Ferrari and Michael Schumacher and he told me that he knows a company back in Italy that will put on the heat sheilding just like the OEM ones.

I find it hard to believe that there are not any places that can do this in the United States. Does anyone know of any reputable shop in the US who can perfoem this type of job???

Also, what are the adv/disadv or repairing vs. replacing, say, with the Fabspeeds?

I am replacing the cats and headers during my 30k this summer and would like to make the best informed decision.

Mine **** the bed today. I am going with the "Competizione Custom" setup. :) They look very well made. We are hopefully going to have them coated by Swain Tech, inside and out. While we are at it, I am going with the Hyperflow straight pipes and replacing the rusty crap that the bozo I bought the car from had put on.
