Who has that carbon fiber key again? I know there was a post about them not too long ago.
i never thought of buying a carbon fibre key but at $250 you guys got me hooked i think im going to hit the buy it button! go the carbon fibre key, its so diff especially if your car is covered with a carbon fibre interior and stuff
Im good brother! Just doing the usual, posting on Fchat and drinking beer! I hope all has been well with you ol son! Go for it mate, you only live once and it looks like a pretty cool key!!
I called the Wynn hotel a while back and got a silver 360 key from them--uncut. They said that all their red Enzo keys were already cut--no use to me. The silver key was $200, including shipping, and happens to be the color of my car. I also got another key from a gent on this site who lives in Australia. His key arrived promptly also, but looks slightly different than the Wynn key. Note: you should only get the key cut by a professional locksmith, so don't take it to Lowe's or Home Depot. The one I got from the Aussie gent was also a beautiful key--a slightly different shade of silver, and with a black horse instead of the bright chrome on the Wynn key. I kind of like the idea of having two slightly different color keys. But now I have three keys. The third one is all beat up, and the raised horse has fallen out. That's the one that I use. This way the other keys don't get scratched up. When I got the one key cut (I haven't had the 2nd one cut yet), the locksmith didn't charge me anything for it. He said that he only charges for the key blanks and not the cutting. Also note: To get in touch with Wynn in LV, you'll need to call the hotel and ask for the Ferrari gift shop. They'll treat you alright. You may also be interested in the carbon key from ferraricarbon.com. It looks great, and only costs $275. Now, I need to get a new set of FOBs because I only have one. Once I get that done, I'll post a thread so others will know what I had to go through. BTW to get new FOBs, you'll need to have a clear title to your vehicle.
No, not correct. No need to purchase the fobs from Ferrari. You can purchase fobs on eBay or from a Porsche dealer P/N: 99361825902. The 95-98 Porsche uses the same fob. It says Porsche but that can decal easily be removed. I will, in about 2 weeks, be able to then reprogram these to that of your vehicle if you have a functioning black remote fob.
Will you need my existing FOB to reprogram the other two? Because I wouldn't be able to part with it since it's my only one. Is it something that I can do (programming it)?
G-Man, I wish I knew this two months ago when I paid the Ferrari mafia $500 to get the double secret code from the vault locked away deep in the catacombs of Maranello. When Greg is able to offers this service, it will truly be a blessing. B
Sorry to contradict you Greg but rtajaly is closer to correct than you know. Officially you don't have to have a clear title BUT you must have a written authorization sent from the lienholder to the dealer or they won't order the fobs & code for you. Most lenders don't know what to do with that request so getting the authorization that you need sent to the dealer is almost impossible.
Wasn't commenting on the requirements to purchase from Ferrari. That I can understand for their liability. I meant to imply that Ferrari is not the only source of the fobs! And, yes, I do need one of the black fobs. If it's your only one that can be an issue but not always.
Part of the complication lies in the resale of your car, if you ever choose to do so. For your car to bring top value, it needs to be complete. That is, it has to have all the factory parts and bits and pieces, like a full set of FOBs (one red + two black), two keys, cover, toolbox and all the tools, manuals case and all the manuals, covers, and even the $80 flashlight. Ferrari buyers can be downright anal when it comes to these things, just as much as they are with service records. So, even if I take GCalo's suggestion about cloning the FOB, that won't help in the long run. But it would set my mind at ease for the time being, having two FOBs. My problem was that the seller had lost one key, and a red and a black FOB. It's beyond me how somebody could just lose those.
Poor conclusion and somewhat flawed thinking. In this market it really matters little. If I clone a fob it's the same as paying big $ from Ferrari for the same. Your choice. Doesn't matter to me!
If you can clone the red FOB and all of its functionality too, then you have a point. Otherwise, my initial point stands. The red FOB is not the same as the black FOBs, whatever the market may be.
Wrong again. The red remote holds the master code for the particular ECU. Other than that all three remotes operate exactly the same!
You're contradicting yourself here. If you can program a FOB with the master code for my particular ECU, if I provide you the existing code (I still have the security code, but not the two FOBs), then I'll send you $400+shipping and two FOBs, provided you program one as the red FOB, with the existing master code, and the other as a slave FOB. That way I'll pay around $650 to have three FOBs--one master, and two slaves (counting my existing slave). Do you have that technology yet? I priced a couple of dealerships for the FOB set alone: $525 at Ferrari of Atlanta (that's about as low as they come) and $1,700 at Foreign Cars Italia in Greensboro (needless to say, I won't be shopping there). Programming the FOBs runs about $500 at a cheap dealership, but the closest dealership to me is the one in Greensboro, which is about 70 miles away. They'll probably charge way more than that. But you can program them yourself using this attached document (found it on this site). My problem is that I'll need to keep count, and my short-term memory is pretty shot--the 90's very turbulent years Image Unavailable, Please Login
Again you are making poor assumptions which are inaccurate, and my statements are not contradictory. I will not disclose publically what I have learned and know about the operation of the remotes and relative codes. So you know, I am not programming or re-programming the master code. Someone else is working on that.
Got the key from Jimmy. I figured WTF and just did it. Got it today and am very happy with it. The funny thing is, the first locksmith I took it to refused to cut it because he was afraid of damaging it! I have a pro guy coming to my house to cut it right now. Here is a pic of it blank before cutting. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I didn't mean to upset you. Now you're sounding defensive. I am merely looking for the best option for getting my set of FOBs completed--that's all. But it's sounding more and more like I have to bite the bullet and shell out $1,000+ at the dealership.
That's a beautiful key. Will you get the Ferrari Carbon key too? I've thought about doing that, and may one day. But for now I have the two new perfect keys--original versions--and my beat-up key for regular use. People who've gotten the carbon key really rave about that too.
