I'm keeping the Mondial for now. We'll see how she does at this year's FCA National meet. However, the pics of the Jag which originally sparked my interest were posted by the dealer out East today. Looks like a nice car - especially for a guy like me with little kids that like to tag along. I don't have any association with this dealer or car at all. I do however know from watching the Speed GT series that the dealer's owner, Tom Papadopolus, was an privateer Aston Martin racer in the series a couple years ago and is really big into Astons. Link below to the Jag. Again - seems like a nice car, but I'm not in the market for one so no need for me to investigate any further. Thanks guys, and enjoy those XKE's - they sure are pretty.

    A V-12 Jag is a Liability..
    A 4.2 is an asset..

the 12 cylinder Jag during the early 70's was over laden with pollution equip,. unless you are willing to have a specialized shop pull out all the hidden potential..stay away..
the 6's were much more reliable and easy DIY ers

    now say smiling Jag!

    I prefer the 5.3 over the 4.2. Nothing like a v12 with 6 downdrafts!

Personally I think Jaguar gets an unreasonable amount of negative comments. Having owned about 6 vintage jaguars over twenty years I have never had any horrible events that would make me not want to own an old Jag. That includes putting about 100k miles on a 71 XKE and driving it all over the west coast and northwest for many years. Yes a vintage Jaguar can be a daily driver. I'm currently using a 66 3.8S as my daily. Unfortunately some kids broke the rear window out after breaking every piece of car glass on my block. Anybody know where inexpensive used spares can be found?

    NICE!

Now your going to make me dig up photos of my old slide throttle 12 in a swb E.

If you ever saw Jay Leno's swb v12 E type with the downdrafts. I had something to do with that. ;-)

I'll bet that sounds terrifically nice - Heck, I think the DOHC 6 sounds super fantastic. I may be old fashioned, but there is something about that naturally aspirated and carburreted sound.

On a smaller more modest scale, I put Weber downdrafts on a Mondial 3.2 and the sound and character transformation was similarly wonderful.

Judging from the photo I'll bet it sounds like a grand pipe organ! Wow!

I really think the sound is so important to round out the enjoyment of the car.
