I saw this on a Porsche website. Has anyone ordered one of these retracting front plate frames for their 3x8? Just curious how it mounts and if the purchaser was happy with it. My car is now registered in a state that requires a front plate, but I don't like the traditional mounting options and I don't want to do something that will block air flow to the radiator.

What am I missing? Doesn't the front plate have to be displayed at all times (unless you have "a license to kill")? Seems it would invite a "traffic stop". But, yes, it is cool.

I placed considerable time into a drop down license for my 308.

It was hinged to fold back under the hood emblem.
It was to stay up out of sight unless I energized a
release. Presumably were I given a 'traffic stop',
I would pull the release and if challenged simply say,
"Sure I have a front license plate...look again."

I put the project on hold when I decided my license retractor
wouldn't be reliable unless I could trim the plate height
about 3/4 inch. I used ball bearing drawer slides, cut down,
and some 3" door hinges, fastening to the grill just under the
    bonnet.
