Yeah man, wouldnt wear it to work of course. Also wouldnt wear it much on days off. Besides posting here, I am always doing something/fixing someones car and at the Gym now, so probably only wear when I go out somewhere for dinner.
The car in question had some thing to do with Paul Pleazeck??(spelling with apologies)and one of his employees.I was talking to Paul regarding it .It came down to :a/not being able to fit into the car(6'4"):b because the car had minimal use over the years and eventually the club .The Ferrari club has been continually strong for 25 or more years where the Lambo club has been hit and miss, situated in FNQ it can be an issue regarding knowledge of a marque.
It could be the same car... hubby knows history. Was in Melbourne for many, many years then in NSW for a brief period before heading to South East QLD last year. Sadly many of the old Lambos weren't built for tall people. One of the club members owns the ex-Paul Halstead Countach that Paul raced. My understanding is that this had some conversions done to it to enable Paul to simply fit in. The current owner is also tall (interestingly he has an Espada too.. currently undergoing restoration... although I haven't seen him actually in the car). On the other matter of the Lambo Club... problem is that the marque is quite unique with total owners in Australia being 'not-alot'. That equates to a limited pool of people to run the club. It comes down to supply and demand basically. There are more Ferraris in Australia so the Ferrari club has a greater chance of maintaining enthusiasm. Porsche - being even more popular - go one step further. Eg. They have about 500 members in QLD alone! The current president (and committee) of the Lambo club and the previous president (and committee) have done alot to raise the club's profile so it is going ahead in leaps and bounds. In terms of where the club is headquartered.... this hasn't made any real difference as events are held around the country. Up until the last few years, it was headquartered out of Sydney and now it is Brisbane/Noosa.** Each state has a co-ordinator who organises local runs. This year's annual event, held over the weekend, was in Melbourne. Last year there wasn't a big event (the weekend's event was to be held last year but had to be moved for various reasons) but the year before it was The Bulls Roar Tour II around Tasmania. Several years ago, the annual event was in Noosa and before that I think it was NSW and Victoria. That said, last year about a dozen members (including myself and hubby) went to Pebble Beach / Monterey and enjoyed the hospitality of the Lambo Club of America. It was absolutely fantastic. Knowledge of a marque... not sure what you mean by this but the beauty of being small is that one can fairly easily find out the history on any Lambo in Australia. Hubby is a walking encyclopaedia. The club magazine is excellent (I am biased) but it is full colour with a thick cover. The club aims to get 3 to 4 out a year now which is hard to do - yes. So yes - it's a bit of an exclusive club although we are endeavouring to change that. More owners and to a lesser extent, enthusiasts are coming out of the woodwork and joining. The club has a website (easy to find) and that too is generating more interest. ** Also, there is a big difference geographically between North QLD and South East QLD. Brisbane to Cairns is about the same distance as Brisbane to Melbourne. Cheers M
The Scud looks nice in Yellow. Interesting how the first guy doesn't left foot brake. With no clutch I thought everyone would use thier left foot for braking.
Not sure PP, I just noted the driver had a different helmet and gear. Also in the Scud the driver only used his right foot and in the lambo the driver used both feet, hence my assumption that there were possibly 2 drivers as it appeared to be 2 different driving styles??????
The first driver (in green) was Kyeichi Tsuchiya (highest finishing position at Le Mans is 2nd outright, champion JGTC driver and the father of drifting, i.e. 'the drift king'). Second driver was Seiji Ara (who won the 2004 Le Mans 24hr race outright- and first in class; currently races touring cars (JGTC, I think) in Japan).
G,day M,I think Paul H dropped his seat and chopped a hole in the roof to fit!!I think I remember an SCW article regarding it being the only Countach to have a sunroof.I was a club member when it was based in Syd..it was a strong club,BUT it was being held together by about 4 or 5 core members, when in my opinion a couple of those dropped out/lost interestet it fell apart unfortunately. The club mag was one of the best produced therein was the problem, the mag editor hung up his boots..it wasn,t long after that....... I guess being up here I didn,t want to have a problem solving situation also their is the aura of Enzo. For your info in case you didn,t know ,there are 2 Countachs' in Cairns..red and yellow.See ya Simon.
thought i would post this before the resident born again christian beats us to it. http://www.autocar.co.uk/CarReviews/FirstDrives/Lamborghini-Murci%C3%A9lago-SV/239676/ more people are saying it looks way better in the flesh, which is usual.
Found an English version of the story. It actually gets more interesting. 22year old driver, 16yr old passenger was giving the guy a ...... = crash http://www.mosnews.com/society/2009/04/20/lamborghini/
It will be a great car to buy in 3 years time for half price. The last of the model is always the best.
that's if you can get one when you want one with the specs you want and the miles you want. it's easy to say lets wait 3 years then pick one up for half, but if there isn't one for sale, that's a problem. i have heard there is 2 maybe 3 tops coming in at the moment.
