Friday, Friday, Friday. At Texas Raceway Park in Kennedale. Hear the roar and feel the earth shake at the power of the "Pro Mods" as they thunder down the track at breakneck speeds. See cars accelerate faster than you believe possible. Feel the power of the engines as they strain to win. Three second e.t's and 185 mph speeds.........Amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Friday, Friday, Friday.....Be there!!!!!!

If you have not seen pro mods run, it is amazing. Door slammers hitting almost 200mph in 3.7 seconds. Not fuel funny cars running on nitromethane but running on racing gas. Either supercharged on racing gas or fuel injected and able to use nitrous oxide. Time trials begin about 6pm and the eliminations begin around 8 to 8:30. Go to www.texasraceway.com for directions on how to get there...........Lets all get together and watch some grass roots drag racing...........

My friend Gene Hector will be there with his new racecar. His car last year ran 3.95 at 187 mph. The new one is suffering from tire shake and has only turned a best of 4.01 so far this season but he expects 3.60's to 3.70's by mid-season.

If you plan to attend, take earplugs.

Will took the first three photos of this set last year when we met up at Kennedale. He knows what he is talking about when he says to take earplugs. These puppies are LOUD!!!!!!!!

This is Gene Hectors '63 Vette bodied Pro Mod.........3.90's at over 185 mph........New one is supposed to get faster than this one.
The man in the light blue cap kneeling beside the passenger side door is Gary Prater, one of my relatives, who was the engine builder for Eddie Hills Pennzoil top fuel car.......He does the transmission on the 'Vette.

    1. Eddie's last car
    2. Eddie in 1988. First car in the 5's.

I just found out that we are having to move my mother-in-law into a skilled nursing facility on Friday. My wife is bringing her up from Big Spring. Hopefully we can have her checked in and ready to leave for the night in time to get to Kennedale. I really want to be there and will if at all possible.

If I can make it out I will be on the pitside at the Gene Hector rig. It will hold both their race cars and is comparable to anything you will see at an NHRA national event by a major team. My friend and relative Gary Prater will be there with his wife Lonnie. Also my nephew Jeron and my brother Jerry. If I can't make it out and you happen to run into any of them just introduce yourself and let them know that you know me through Ferrari. That will get you in. They are good folks and Gary is a world of information on top fuel engines and getting the most out of them.

I hope to see you out there. But, family does need to be placed in its proper place and going into a facility will be a shock to her.

News update........While I was typing this my wife called and told me that the doctor discovered a blood clot in my mother-in-laws leg and needs to take care of that. Also they have put her on medication for congestive heart failure. This was a shock to us and we ask you guys to lift her up in thought and if you choose, prayer, to help her come through this setback. Her name is Candy. I will keep you updated...........And thanks in advance for your concern with a fellow F/Cer and his family......
