I wonder if he'll be one of the "Eloquent" yahoos or the argumentative sort? Maybe he'll just go back to a different username and masturbate accordingly, thinking he accomplished something and never respond....

...that is if he really is a he? ;):)

    spot on!
no way he wouldnt have a sarge come down...no shot..
who in their right mind would have a k-9 dog rummaging thru inside of their 430..it makes ZERO sense..if the "dude" driving was 6'10..wudda accused him of being an athlete..not a "dealer"..lol
6'10 in that car...not without altering the seat rails..

He mentioned in a previous post that he did indeed have the seats modified.

I don't know why everyone is jumping down this guy's throat. While his story isn't the most believable, given the level of competence amongst law enforcement today, I wouldn't exactly be surprised if it were true.

Strange to see so many remarks to my story. Especially remarks against my character. I do understand most of your scepticism about my story. I'll try to clear up most of what is said/questioned above. First, this story is not BS. I was pulled over because of suspicion alone. Secondly, for all lawyers posting to my story, I studied and graduated from the University of Alberta. In my original post, I did not give away details to which could be held against my suit in court. I told a generalized story. And I will take my chances against this information being found on this forum. And to those above who questioned me solely on the fact that I did not attack the officers after being called a n***er, would you throw away your career that quickly? I handled this situation calmly to avoid initial confrontation. What would be the point arguing on the spot? I failed to mention my position to subconciously question the officers' motives. Regardless of my position, the officers should handle all cases with equality. And to those who ask why I let the officers search my vehicle, it is because I had nothing to hide, and I was hoping while knowning I would most likely be proved wrong, that it would be a quick in and out. However, my rights were voilated when the K9 unit was called in to do a more thourough search because the proceedure is to let the dog walk around the exterior of the vehicle, and if it picks up a scent, then that is probable cause to go inside. Probable cause is not needed for the dog to sniff the EXTERIOR of the vehicle, however it is for the dog to do an interior search. In my mind it was a power trip that erupted when the initial officer did the in and out and found nothing. I think our system of accountabilty is out of whack, and my story proves it.

And since when does spelling/grammer prove validity on a forum based website? Aswell, after I was free to go, the officer had no cause to follow me, and eventually wait outside my house. My purpose is not to prove to everyone here that I am who I say I am, I was merely telling a story from my day. And to have my character questioned on this board does not offend me in the slightest.

And the the person who posted that I should have taking action after being called a n***er, I want to make my beleifs apparent. The word is completely derogatory and out of line to use. However the use is becoming quite popular between black individuals. I would never call my friend a n***er because of the origin of the word. My beleifs strongly favor equality of all races. So if two black individuals can refer to each other as n***ers and so forth, where does the line of prejudice begin? By accepting the word being used between two people from the same african culture shouldn't it be accepted for all individuals to use? I personally blame the overuse of the word in a form that does not reflect the original context.

Just for the sake of argument, how well do you know your "friend"? Is it POSSIBLE that he/she has a long rap sheet, or is a known gang member? Guilt by association? Is it POSSIBLE that they didn't care about YOU and your car, but were suspicious of your friend? Did they ask for your friend's ID? Did they think that your friend could have planted something in your car?

Just what do you intend to do about this incident?

    Okay:

-My right to be secure against unreasonable search

-My right to not be subjected to unusual punishment

-Equality rights, with respect to discrimination

-In this case it would be argued that my life, liberty and security rights were violated

-I was not presented with a valid reason to being pulled over

How did they violate your rights? You gave up your rights when you gave them permission to search. You don't have anything on them. I smell jive.

To answer the above few posts. I have known my friend for quite a while, that being since high school. My license was checked out, along with my friends. I know for a solid fact that my friend has no convictions, he works for a consulting firm and has his MBA. And even if he had priors the officer would have had to state his priors, and even then it is my vehicle and not his. If he were a convicted felon it does not grant the officers the right to carry out their following proceedures.

And yes, I posted this last night around midnight after having a few Mojitos. I know my spelling was not up to par...

Nope. You gave up ALL rights to unlawful search from the cops and the dog when you gave permission.

Now I'm thinking this story certainly sounds plausible.

In the US there's a little known law whereby you can go after a cop personally for various rights infringements. That would certainly put a stop to these heavy handed actions we hear about so frequently. See if they have a similar thing in Canada? No sense in having the tax payer's taking the hit for these abuses of power.

BTW, assuming your story is true then it's best to just walk away from the people on this board and go about your business. Good luck.

This is why the K9 unit was not justified. I gave the officer permission to do a quick inside search of my vehicle. He did that and so forth and came back with nothing. But my rights were violated due to insignificant probable cause, and the sole fact that the average time frame alotted for a traffic stop was broken.
