    Seeing Cliff's father's collection, and the car refered to as "LoudMouth" got me to thinking ,
    I know i name my cars- do you name yours? Do you follow tradition and give them a female name? How does your car get it's name?

    My grandfather called his SA410 "Mame" and the MilleMiglia was known as "MiMi"
    Not all of mine have been named , but the cars i did name include:

    1959 VW- "Leander" aka O'Riellybus Volkswagonus - He was a boy car, so old- he had stone pistons, the goldminer i bought him from had a doorknocker put on the cargo door with the name "Leander" engraved on it...

    My ford Taurus- "Pearl" she's white and she rolls around town....

    Toyota is "Zippy"

    '74 Courrier P/U w/ MonteCarlo v-6 was already named "Ruby" when i bought it.

    (Please forgive if this is a repeat of another thread- i did check the Fchat search...and it came up empty handed)

    Not sure why I would do that. The car already has a name ie; BMW, Corvette, Mustang etc.
    What is really odd is when you see the owners name or the model of car on their license plate. I saw a Audi A8 with "Audi A8" on the license plate.

    Hi Llenroc:) People name their ships, airplanes so why not cars?
    I agree that would be a little odd, and unimaginative- don't you agree?

    Rarely, but sometimes a slang sticks. Our Yukon XL is called "Yuki", a pickup with an EFI emblem is called "Effie".

    Dad had a car Mom named Shasta, because it always seemed "Shehastohave" something.

    My cars and bikes seem to get short term names when they break down or refuse to start. Once fixed they relinquish the name and it will not appear until the next time a gremlin gets in the machine.

    My 328 is named Roxanne because of the Police song.
    My TR will get a name also. I have an idea right now and will see if it is appropriate when I get it next week or so...

    I worked for Ford for a number of years and picked up nicknames for different models-- we have a Deranger and an Exploder....

    Love the Shasta story! that's a good one!

    LMAO- now that you mention it Russell, i had a few select, short term names for some POS's i have driven in the past;)

    Roxanne is a good name - sweet and sexy-
    Looking forward to hearing about your new addition.

    my 1996 landcruiser (white) is known as "moonbuggy" cause i had killer mud tires with a lot of grooves and ridges on the sides of the tires and my brother said that it was alien writing...i say its cause its one of NASA's finest and always gets me there and never lets me down!!!

    I've had a couple of cars that we tried hard to find a name.
    But even in the end I just couldn't bring myself to refer to a car by some personal name; just doesn't feel right to me for some reason.

    I have never named a car...or much else. I dont generally anthropomorphize things though my ex named practically everything...I thought it was odd.

    He speaks the truth. I have heard them called "******" and "******" and once even "**** *****, *** ***** ****." (Which must be something Brits say as I did not understand any of it.)
