Hi, I have a specific question about the engine of the F360. We have tested a Ferrari 360 and it looks great but we have a question about the engine: when the engine is not yet 100% on temperature, and you bring the engine to 2000-2500rpm, after releasing the throttle, the engine rpm drops well under 1000rpm. It does not stop, it keeps running. But is the drop of rpm normal or could this be some problem with the settings? Previous ferraris have a problem with this rpm drop (due to big carbs ....) but normally the F360 has this less.
Well firstly, the 360 doesn't have a carb, it's injected, so i think we can rule that one out! Unforunately, diagnosing faults like that over the internet just isn't possible, there are too many variables. It could be a faulty MAF unit, sensor, it may need resetting, the car could be overfilled with oil, the battery could be low...blah...blah..... There are a couple of simple things it could be though. If it's an early car with F1 they are proned to doing this due to the settings in the gearbox e.c.u and dependant on which level of software it has. You wll need to take it to a specialist or dealer and have them hook it up to their diagnostic computer and check not only this, but for other stored faults too. Also, if the battery switch (in the luggage compartment) has been operated, you need to reset the throttles before driving, this too can give similar symptoms. This is done easily, just switch on the ignition, but don't start the engine, and leave it for over 30 seconds. Restart the engine, your done. Ultimately though, without seeing the car and seeing what it is doing, it's all just a big old guess.....
Thanx. It helps already a lot. About the carbs; it was my mistake. Previous models could have this due to their carbs .... (that was what I meant. I was too fast and not always used to the english terminology.). But other issues like the battery switch, F1 software, .... are very helpful. We will certainly do a diagnostic check.
