    So... I'm installing an amplifier behind the dash of my 1991 348. I've done some digging around in the car and I can see that each ecu is fed by cables that pass through grommets on both sides of the firewall. These grommets don't seem like they have enough extra room for an 8 awg wire. Does anybody know of an easier way to get a wire from my battery into the interior of the car?

    Welcome to Ferrari Chat!

    Here's what you might do. Do you know where the interior fuse panel is located? Pull down the carpet in the passenger's footwell, fold down the cover plate, and there's the fuse panel. If you remove a couple of screws, you can pull the panel loose, and behind it there's a "buss bar" with a direct connection to the battery. I would think that would be a good place to get power for your amp, unless you have a REALLY heavy power draw. I'm not sure what the gauge is on these wires, you should be able to measure them.

    I'll be running an alpine pdx-4.150 which is rated at 600 watts RMS max output. It's likely that my gains will be set low and I'll be drawing around 400 watts max. This would work if the buss bar can handle the extra load. However, I would still prefer to have a dedicated line from the battery. Would I run into any trouble if I drilled a small hole next to one of the ecu grommets? I know the gas tank is within close proximity.

    Really, I'd prefer not to drill at all but it seems to be my only option at this point. Any thoughts?
