I have a 2007 Quattroporte, 19K miles and yesterday as Im driving it on the freeway from Houston to Dallas a red circle with the numbers 040 appears and it says speed limit exceeded. It kept doing this as long as I was over 40 miles an hr so I got pretty fed up as the whole drive was on the freeway. The car has never done this. Anyone ever have this happen to them? Why on earth would a Maserati have any such feature to appear when 40 mph is crossed is my question. I will be calling the dealer tomorrow back in houston but this happened last night and the dealer was closed as well as today. I'm dreading the return trip home if this beeping won't stop, I may just tow it home and buy a plane ticket.

My wife had a 07 car, it sounds like a speed set alert, but I did not think the Maser had one.

Sounds like the Speed alert. I have one in my 09 QP. The alert in my model year is set through the bose radio I believe in system settings. Can either be turned off or on and the speed warning can be set to any mph number. I have it set at 80. Need to move it up.

Really! You would tow it home because it has a flashing light? We live in a different world.

Electric tape does wonders covering up flashy lights?

It's not a flashing light, its a constant beeping, if you would have read the post you would have seen that. Try driving four hours to get home with the radio going with a beeping noise constantly draining out the radio. Either way I drove home this morning but I just bought headphones for my ipod and made due. It was just a computer setting my service manager walked me through a quick fix. I guess a valet was fiddling around with the car somewhere.

Sorry but it's called an owners manual... read it and re-set the speed alarm...

Or just send the car over here to Pennsylvania and I will put up with the beeping, (or just drive it at 39mph everywhere)

Or... give it to the wife and let her deal with it and get yourself an '09

    1. You never said it was beeping.. you said "Im driving it on the freeway from Houston to Dallas a red circle with the numbers 040 appears and it says speed limit exceeded."

    2. You're a jerk! So now, knowing that you had to listen to that for 4 hours there, 4 hours back, just means to me that there is justice in the world!

    3. I do know how to read.. I would of read my owners manual.

I'm a jerk? Really, I guess you missed the last line of my original post sir, here it is....

"I'm dreading the return trip home if this beeping won't stop, I may just tow it home and buy a plane ticket."

Beeping won't stop....not a light I can cover, but beeping.I just asked a simple question isn't that what Fchat is for? I had a problem, I was on the road, and it was saturday night so the dealer was closed. Actually called a friend off fchat first and he couldn't help me diagnose the problem.Luckily for me I've been a member here for 3 years and I thought well maybe a fellow maserati owner can help me out. The manual, god knows where it is, probably back at my place under a stack of papers because when I got the car I remember reading it on my couch watching a Rockets game. Anyways, I post a question I get you calling me a jerk, I get a guy in Pennsylvania saying I'm basically a moron and should send him my car. People what is wrong with you, it's an internet chat room a simple diagnosis is all that was needed. Jesus, I'm glad my service manager at the dealership this morning didn't call me an idiot and say I'm unworthy of my car but I'm starting to think he should've.

This is the most snubbish forum i've ever been on too, it seems everybody thinks they are all high horses, but there not, i totally understood your question and i would of been upset as well, but it seems all is taken care of, but you also have to remember most people on here don't have exotics, they just dream of it and so their just jealous at us

My Audi has the same, it's a button on the left of the steering column on the instrument cluster - if you press it while driving it sets that as the warning speed and when you go over that it starts beeping.

I searched and found this thread with no answer to the OP's question. The Maserati's menu systems and books are a joke. Anyway, found it. The Speed Limit warning is actually part of the navigation. Don't know if you have to be in NAV first or not (I was), Press the "Trip" button. You'll see Speed Limit as one of the last menu items. Select it and there will be a toggle to turn on/off the speed limit warning. Appears it just gets its limit setting from its database based upon your location. No way to set the warning to a different speed from what I can tell.

Had the same problem. Read the manual. Googled it and found it here.
