I have just got myself the 355 F1 and am curious to find out what may be the best and safest way to burnout at a rocket-start in 355 F1? I do not intend to do it frequently but wish to be able to do it when I feel like it doing. I realize it is not good for the car or the rear tires. Any tips?

    Congrats. Awsome car!

If the 355 gearbox is anyting likw the 348 gearbox, remember to go back and pick up the remains of your bearings.....

It wont break! Just put the pedal to the floor and hold on to the steering wheel... The F1 system will rev up and then release the clutch brutally. Its litle bit scary the first time so make sure you have plenty of space when you try it out. :)

It even describes it (poorly) in the manual. It's not in front of me, but it warns you of wheelspin when nailing it from a standstill in 1st. Same with high throttle sport mode shifts into 2nd and third, both of which chirp on dry pavement, but can flat break loose in the wet.

I have never had the stones. I may go to a wet parking lot some day and try it.

    Congrats on your 355 F1!

Yes, rear will break traction from standing start in 1st gear regardless of wet or dry road surface...but only if you're in SPORT mode...won't do it in NORMAL mode.

Just make sure SPORT mode is engaged then nailed the gas pedal and just hang on for the ride :D

However, if you've done all that and still no burn-out with rear then you might want to get your F1 clutch PIS adjusted.

Keep my number handy for when the gear box blows up. I have a great big box of broken parts and really need some more. Transmission parts prices have gone up too so it will be great to see how much yours will cost.

    It won't be cheap.

There was a description in the workshop manual of what would happen if I pressed the pedal to the floor. I was just curious to see what would happen ;-)

Just out of curiosity, how many 355 gearbox failures have you seen? I know of lots of 348 boxes, but so far have not heard of 355 failures. I have always felt the driveline shock from high rpm shifting in sport mode with the F1 is pretty significant.

As far as I know, the recomended procedure for burnouts in a mid engined car are:

    1. Phone Ricambi and order a new clutch.

    2. Clear a space on a hoist some were.

    3. Phone a tow truck.

    4. Push right foot flat to the floor.

    5. Wait for smell of burning rubber followerd by smell of burning cluch.

    6. Load on tow truck and change clutch.

Mid engined cars don't do great burn outs, the harder you accellerate, the more it loads the rear tyres, the less the wheels spin, the more the cluch hurts ....If you want to do burnouts, get a pick up truck with a confederate flag on the roof and a big block something or other under the hood....

Hahaha, I like your procedures! From other inputs and suggestions, your procedures may be the realistic ones. But... I should try it at least once...or twice....or more depending on how Iike it. Temptation, temptation, temptation....
