Thanks for checking on this. Curtis and I are planning to leave from the Ellicott City / Columbia area at 11am Friday. Planning on taking the "scenic" route down 301. If others want to join, that'd be great. - Eric
The rain is spotty if at all Saturday, not showing for Friday or Sunday. I, obviously, am going no matter what. Will be down by 11:00 AM Friday. They also got us a 60x90 tent to park under. This whole deal is so first rate! Go Caps!!!
Don, just sent you an email. Call me tomorrow or send me a PM or email, and we can get at least three of us or so to drive down together on Friday. MB
ERIC: Your route and time frame for the drive to Williamsburg are just what I was planning on. I would like to try to latch up with you and Curtis. I live just west of Annapolis, 20 minutes from 301 South. There is a modern gas station in the 301 median (left side if you are going south) about one mile south of the intersection of 301 and MD Rt. 214 (Central Ave.) that might make a good meeting place. Please shoot me a PM or e-mail with cell phone numbers so we can coordinate.
We are leaving Sat 7:30am from Mclean (kids/work Friday night). Anyone welcome to join us for the drive down. Hope to get there by 10 in time for Yorktown drive. See you all there. Cheny and Aida
All right, looks like I am in with your caravan down on Friday. Someone send me a PM with the exact location to meet up, and I will need a cell phone # or two in case I get lost. I have a spare tire I would like to bring, but not sure how to do it at the moment...in any case, I will meet you on Friday somewhere on route 301 to make the trip down, I just need the details. MB
I live in Virginia Beach, and I'll be bringing my father up to see the show and judging on Sunday. I went to college at William & Mary, so if anyone has any questions about the area, I may have some answers for you. I'm about to start looking for a first Ferrari for myself the 308 and 328 have always been my favorite. There aren't many 3X8s here in Hampton Roads, and I haven't sat in one since 1987. But I've changed a lot physically since then (yes, I've gotten older, taller and a bit "wider"). So I'm asking if anyone who is bringing a 308 or 328 would let me sit in the driver's seat to see if I can fit in it. I hope I can fit, but if I can't, I'll have to wait another year or two to be able to get something newer and larger. Please feel free to reply in this thread or send me a PM. I look forward to meeting many of you this weekend. Thanks.
Maybe its my optimism but it looks like the weather could possibly pass us by for the weekend, it started with 50% on friday and 30% saturday to 30% friday and 40% saturday, hopefully those numbers will keep going lower.
Chris: We are counting on you keeping any moisture away from the area. Water on the car is fine as long as it's from a hose! Bob
I'll do my best, anyone know how to do a no-rain dance? 30% both friday and saturday! Its getting better. It figures after 2 weeks of beautiful weather down here it gets bad THIS weekend.
PM Sent. The more the merrier. I can't be much help with spare transport. Where abouts are you in relation to 301 and where would you like to join in? CC
I'll join the conga line at WaWa. See you guys there around 1145. I may beat you there, but if I don't - don't leave without me! Should be a fun weekend. MB
Not sure who has been in the e-mail loop, so here is the address of the WaWa station in the median of 301 just south of the intersection of 301 and MD Rt. 214 (Central Avenue) that I am suggesting as the meet point for the caravan south to Williamsburg late Friday morning. I will be there ~1145 in the 365 GTC, fresh from Richard's magic touch at Competizione. I put 60 miles on it this afternoon for a trial run. Sweet! My cell phone number for calls Friday is 410-212-3331. Despite the weather, this was an amazing weekend. The host's preparations and attention to detail, graciousness, warm staff, the food, the wine, the venue, the cars, the food, the wine . . .. Most of all were the new friendships we made. Everyone was friendly, good spirited, sharing car and personal tales. It was a wonderfully warm event, and exceeded our expectations. Thank you to the event hosts and participants. I'll be posting some photos shortly on the other thread.
Stan, I'm sure I speak for everyone on the organizational committee, this was one heck of a weekend! I'm not sure if there could have been a better, more accomodating group of enthusiasts to help us launch Ferraris on the Vine. Your cars were diverse, interesting and well presented; you smiled when the Yorktown parking lot was not what we envisioned (although I think we embarassed the County Supervisor into giving us ANYTHING we want next year!); you shrugged when Mother Nature slowed our movement from the tent to the dining room; you laughed at all the jokes; you gave Derek a rousing standing ovation that truly touched him; you stood patiently in line waiting for a photo, a greeting and an autograph.... is there anything this group didn't do without style and aplomb?? Not in my eyes. Maybe we shouldn't wait until next year to get eveyone back together (maybe a dinner someplace in the middle?), but if we do, I look forward to seeing all of you back at the Winery for the 2nd Annual Ferraris on the Vine! Cheers, Bob Weber
BOB: After the terrific event that Patrick and all of his team members and you put on this year, I don't know how next year's could be better--but I'm sure you will try. Thanks to everyone for one heck of a great time. This was really special.
