What'cha mean, his speech made a lot of sense.

He said he was being ousted because he tried to pass a bill to buy prescription drugs from Canada at cheaper prices, and wanted to provide health ins. to all children.

He's truly a psychopath. His entire speech was about him, him him! His wife is no 'Sweet Pea' either.

I sure hope he doesn't get his pension; if he does, that would be a real slap-in-the-face to to the populace of IL.

Last night's news reported that they are selling their home and that his wife is looking for a condo on the North Side Lakefront.

    There goes my neighborhood...

A farmer from Vandalia, Illinois, attends a social function where Governor
Blagojevich is holding court, and trying to gather support to fight his
    impeachment.

Once he discovers the man is a farmer, he starts to belittle him by talking
in a southern-type drawl and using only single syllable words.

As Blagojevich was doing that, he kept swatting at some flies that were
buzzing around his head. The farmer says, "Y'all havin' problems with them
    circle flies?"

Blago stopped talking and said, "Well, yes, if that's what they're called.
But I've never heard of circle flies."

"Well sir," the farmer replies, "circle flies hang around farms. They're
called circle flies because they're almost always found circling around the
    back end of a horse."

"Oh," Blagojevich replies and goes back to his rambling. But, a moment later
he stops and bluntly asks, "Are you calling me a horse's Ass?"

"No, sir," the farmer replies, "I have too much respect for the citizens of
Illinois to call their Governor a horse's ass."

"That's a good thing," Blago responds and begins rambling on once more.

After a short pause, the farmer, in his best downstate drawl says, "Hard to
    fool them flies though."

It's kinda funny to see how folks on here get all upset about Blago and our politicians. Not that what he did was any good, but his pay for play scheme has little to no effect on my life. I'm much more affected by our alderwoman and her insane decisions. If anything drives my property value than it is her.

It's a matter of principle. If we say "I don't care, it doesn't affect me" we implicitly accept a system by which democracy will be for sale to the highest bidder. I come from Italy, and creeping corruption supported by the apathy of the general public is one of the root causes behind the disgusting rot of Italian politics. In Italy senate and parliament seats are often "bought and sold", and so are political favors and loyalties. Very few politicians have any principles or beliefs other than in their own quest for power. The current ruling coalition at the last election presented lists of candidates to the parliament and senate that included convicted felons, suspected mafiosi and even politicians previously jailed for corruption. They won, and they placed all their "best" people in what should be our sacred halls of democracy.

If we don't want American Democracy to sink to these depths we must stop all the Blagos before they proliferate. Saying that "they have little effect on our lives" will only allow the corruption to spread.

I totally agree, apathy (it doesn't affect me) is one of the worst positions an individual can take. As long as 'I'M' not affected by today's events, I don't give a hoot!

This is how totalitarian governments take root......I won't cite examples, I think you all know what they are!

Once in the sights of these guys you are done, period. The conviction rate is near 100%. Blago being an idiot just made their job easier.
Things will become very interesting once Blago himself realizes the predicament he is in. He will sing like a canary in effort to save himself. Watch him throw everyone he can under the bus.

Agreed 100%. He'll drag down Rahm, who will then drag down the prez. But if Obama contunues to keep hanging around all these non-tax paying politicians, he'll drag himself down.

I actually hope he does throw everyone possible under the bus. It would be nice to see a good house cleaning and letting the world see an accurate view of what has been going on.

This might be fun to watch.

Obama's going to handle it by appointing candidates that have nefarious pasts to executive positions . How many have decried their appointments due to shady pasts; 3-4 whatever. So much for the 'New Order' and 'Not Business as Usual' proclamations made during the stumping.

To my eyes, it still is 'Government for the Government'. The hell with the general population that our elected officials are supposed to represent.

    I rest my case!

Did you see today's announcement by our junior senator? He just went back on all the testimony he made how he did not have direct contact with the governor and his close aids. He also now says that our fine ex-governor had tried to get a contribution for being considered.

This was all followed by a statement that the senator would not take any questions on this matter today.

Maybe he should be the next impeachment target. The senate democrats that seated him should be squirming now.

"CHICAGO -- U.S. Sen. Roland Burris kept out of sight Friday as longtime friend Gov. Pat Quinn joined the roster of fellow Democrats calling for his resignation following new disclosures about his controversial appointment, while the White House urged the senator to take the weekend to consider his future."

Wise words my friend. I remember us discussing the Blagojevich phenomen a few weeks ago and forgot to ask:
How on earth could people of IL give their votes for this 'wild guy' from Serbia?
At least Serbias rule in the Kosovo war anti-NATO and a huge majority of the serbian people was anti-USA in mindset.
Hard to explain why other candidates couldn't collect enough votes. :(

The "Rod Blagojevich Superstar" spoof was absolutely fantastic! The stuff was outrageously funny and nothing you could show on prime time TV. Unless it is HBO maybe.

They just sent me an invitation for an encore presentation, because "the story writes itself", which is kinda true.

If you'd see his "career" in a movie, you'd think this is a bad Hollywood script for dummies.
