    1950 Ferrari 275/340 Barchetta

    Factory built for the 1950 Mille Miglia, this touring bodied Barchetta is the first Lampredi–powered sports GT Ferrari. The Marzotto brothers raced it in the 1951, 52, and 53 Mille Miglias. Extensive history includes many other races. Originally was a 275 S ( 3.3 litre ) and later updated by the factory to 340 specs (4.1 liters). Rebodied by Fontana.

    1937

    In 1929 Enzo Ferrari set up his own team, Scuderia Ferrari. They raced with Alfa Romeo's and in 1933 they became the official Alfa Romeo racing division.
    In 1937, after racing with Alfa Romeo's for several years, Enzo Ferrari wanted to build his own car.
    This became the Alfa Romeo 158 (Alfetta)


    The 158 was a single-seater designed by Gioacchino Colombo in the spring of 1937 at the request of Enzo Ferrari.
    It had a 1.5 liter 8 cilinder engine (158) with compressor

    In 1944 Allied forces bombed Ferrari's machine tools and aircraft accessories plant. Ferrari rebuilt it in 1946 and (fortunately for us) included an auto production facility which eventually produced the first Ferrari sports car.
