Only a V6 so far, today as a matter of fact. A co-worker got a RS. For a V6 it makes nice power and rides really good. Seats were awesome. My neighbor has a orange SS on order scheduled for mid May.

Haven't driven one yet but just this past Saturday afternoon, which was nicely sunny and warm here, saw a rally yellow RS coupe driving slowly down a busy road in our town. Was turning heads and causing camera phones to appear everywhere. Very aggressive-looking car. I liked it a lot! I think they just went on sale officially last Friday (5/1).

My cousin works at a dealer here that's the central hub for all the Camaro's. He said there probably won't be any available for a test drive for many months. I can't wait though.

Seems like Chevy Dealers are selling these Camaro's over MSRP Sticker price.

Some are, but most are honoring all of GM's discounts from what I've read on Camaro5 over the past months.

Had the chance to take a V6 out on Laguna Seca. It actually put out decent power for what it was. You had to keep it spun up, but it worked.

The ride was very middle of the road. Not a sports car at all. Remember they are aiming these at people looking for an everyday driver, not a toy car. So its soft. I imagine the aftermarket will fill in the gaps and figure out a way to make it handle. Its not BAD in stock form, just doesnt really have the sporting ability its looks promise... kinda like the original pony cars.

The interior is nice... but its like driving a tank. The belt line is HIGH and the front window is damn near a slit. Makes the car feel bigger than it is. The dash is pretty cool, the optional console mounted gauges are a MUST, they just look so cool. The aftermarket will have a field day with the interior as well. Lots of room for doo-dads and refinish options.

The price really aint too bad either.

Comparisons? The Mustang is a more capable sports car. The Challenger is more of a muscle car. The Camaro seems to slot in between the two. That opinion could change once I get my hands on a V8 version of the Camaro though.

Thanks for you comments and pics Alan.

You have to remember though, the SS's (1 & 2) have different suspension than the V6.

I've actually read some people saying they think the ride is a little harsh....I laughed.

BTW, why would they have 2 V8's and the Camaro a V6?

Yeah, I'd like to have a turn in the V8 Camaro. I'd like to feel the difference in the suspension, and I'm sure the engine transforms the car.

the cars were brought to the event by the manufacturers. It was a two day event for the media. One day on the street, one on track. Why GM chose to bring only one Camaro, and the V6 version at that... I have no idea.

everyone else brought the big guns... Rousch 427, Shelby 500, SRT8 Challenger, Audi R8, Mercedes AMG C63, M3, Lotus Supercharged Elise, Aston Martin DB9.... and the Camaro V6....

    go figure

(there were many more cars there, some base models, but those are the ones I recall off the top of my head in the performance category)

Interesting. Maybe the V8's were somewhere else that day, or they wanted to show how well the V6 can do.

My brother just picked up his bumble bee yellow SS V8 manual 4 speed camaro Tues. morning. From what he tells me only 14,000 are scheduled to be built. Most dealers are only getting 2-3 apiece and almost all have already been pre sold. He is driving it up for the summer and he has promised me plenty of seat time. Can't wait to see it in person and have asked him to send me some pics when he has a chance. He says its really stunning in person. The car hasn't been officially unveiled yet and he can't drive it a block without being swarmed by almost everybody who sees it. He says he got his moneys worth.Base price is in the low 30's. He paid 47K out the door optioned out which included fatter tires and upgraded rims. He'll be following me and my 599 up to Elkhart Lake this summer for the FCA annual meet in late JUly. Now I just need to get him on the Road America track! Maybe after the FCA convention is over.

Get your son a tripod for Christmas! I personally would have liked to hear the motor instead of music.... but other than that, let him know the video was really neat. Where was that shot? Kinda reminds me of the rolling hills in Chester County, PA.

Sorry about that Mike. I think I just showed my age thinking about Camaro's with 4 speeds. The sixties were good to me.

Is the Camaro supposed to be released, with a Z06 type engine, in a year or two, as an option ?

Chevrolet, often offers a better engine a year or two down the road.

I like the looks of the car.

I spotted one last night coming out of the Red Rock Casino as I was pulling into the lot. It looks good in person... even though in peripheral vision I thought it was a Challenger at first. It looks thick.

How is it "ugly"? It's got classic lines.

And why would it "rattle"? Because it's American? Have you owned a newer GM car? There better then most imports. Check JD Power.

If you have not driven a GM Car lately you really don't have anything to base it on. American cars have come along way. Just for instance take the Cadillac CTS they have the best warranty around. Plus they have really stepped up for draw a large group of younger people who want to drive their cars.

Most import cars all look the same, Boring! If you see a Honda they look like a Lexus or Toyota. Not to say that is bad, but they have no identity just plain. If you really want something ugly take the Preus.
