    Hey Guys,

Has this ever happened to you?

While rebuilding the carburetors, I dislodged the float pin and the little pinch arm broke off……Bummer last carburetor to be rebuilt too.

My question is, what can I do to fix it? Since the arms will be exposed to gasoline, how should I get this repaired? Welding, cement…. Any ideas.

    Thank you very much…

    Chris.

I have repaired that problem many times on motorcycle carbs
by drilling 2 small holes and using a lap of safty wire to hold float
pin in place. Has always worked fine.

Thanks for your advise, I may have to resort to that.

Did you get a chance to review the PM thatI had sent you?

It looks as if the later weber carbs has somewhat of a very light green-ish finish to them, I'd like to try to mirror that if possible.

Please let me know what you might have available.

    Thank you,

    Chris.

If you decide to try an epoxy to repair it I have used JB Weld in Holley fuel bowl. Fuel does not effect it at all.

    Cheers Jim

Have one top, unfortunately not for 308 style. Check with Pierce Manifolds in CA.

I have done what Larry suggested many times and it provides a lasting repair. Use the thinnest stainless safety wire and you will be fine. Epoxy will not hold up to the constant fuel fumes.

I actually found a nice carb top at G.T. Car Parts...Bill "hooked me up" with one for about $100.00. I couldn't argue, he's ALWAYS come in for me.

Just one question from you experienced guys, the brass tubing the screws into the housing, do you need to use a bonding agent (plummers tape), or can you just screw it in as is???

    Thanks, Guys,

    Chris.
