Probably, it was a given the diffuser would be legal, I saw it coming a FOTA v FIA war.

This confirms to me that PornoMax cannot accept a modicum of common sense that may oppose him.
Tough words "destroy" I'am sure Ron Dennis can concur.

Can someone explain why has this sport got to put up with a FIA leader that thinks F1 is his personal play ground for vendettas.

Please somebody tie him up in a Chelsea flat and throw away the key.

its a below the belt hit. heres a few w***y rules

    1. team factories cant go over time hours due E.U.

so pornomaxx is willing to dobb teams into the E.U for over time working for this rule.
big fines and closing down pennalties

    2. teams r on restricted testing.

so if they cant do that how do they know the new parts are safe.

Ferrari dont need F1 for prestige....they have loads of that already, with road car sales at their peak and a long waiting list too.

Try telling the F1 merchandising arm of the sport that F1 doesnt need Ferrari and i reckon they will crap themselves. Ferrari merchandising outsells every other team put together.

Ferrari need F1 for technology and innovation, something which the FIA are now stifling.

Mark my words, the FIA want to standardise most f the car components, from engine to suspension parts etc. At the moment the big boys are resisting this....for now. But MM is a shrewd operator and this is the thin end of a big wedge!!

:) Actually I think that'd be pretty cool!

Think of all the extra model cars they'd sell.

Frankly I'm not at all in favor of where F1 is headed. McLaren made ECU's. FIA court rulings off the track deciding championships. The KERS implimentation when they are suppposed to be cutting costs??????. All of the aero changes in the name of creating better passing for a better show basically eradicated in favor of the double diffuser that was clearly a big gamble to be illegal or the top teams would not have been caught out. No US race. No Canada race. No French race. Racing at dusk for better TV times endangering the drivers and cutting the show short if weather is a factor. Bernie and Max still controlling things.

When I got into professional racing, F1 was not the pinacle of professional motorsports. IMSA and the Camel GTP was the ticket. The technology far surpassed F1 at the time.

I'd love to see Ferrari get into ACO Le Mans or ALMS along with their current GT2 backed teams and go straight up against Audi, Porsche, Accura and then watch Mercedes get back into it as well as Bentley, Aston Martin, Peugot, Toyota, etc.

It would go a long way to rejuvinate American road racing.

That would be great. F1 has become a joke. They just keep adding rules, fines and politics...

A lot of truth in that.
IMO Ron hung in a lot longer than many others would have under similar circumstances and his departure signals what a sorry state F1 is in.

+1 You know I hate agreeing, with you Mr Dave...;) I'am surpised he lasted as long as he did, under the circumstances, but I suppose he wanted to be there to see LH achieve a WDC.

IMO I don't think F1 is in such a bad shape right NOW, that's racing wise!!, However it's the off track stuff that has got beyond the joke.

Next on the horizon, Kimi forgot to wear his pants during the race, but no one noticed! Immediately disqualified and suspended until hearing in two months.

Timo penalized ten grid spots for mysterious deposit in his bank account during the last race of 2008.

Constructor Champion announcement from Bernie, "I don't like that stupid name, give it to the second place guys. @!*#?! Just do it!"

And the WDC will be a battle of wit between Jensen and Rubens in a close match of paper-rock-scissors. The best two out of three.

F1 is like Groucho Marx's farm building. "if you look at it, its a barn. If you smell it, its a stable".
BTW I hate it when you agree with me as well ;)

The drivers are racers. They will deal with the hand given and race whatever they get paid to race. But the sheer cost to hold an event, the franchising costs required by Bernie, the constant rules manipulation in an effort for cost control and parity which have only skyrocketed costs. To me the red tape, politics or government/dictatorship of F1 is killing it. For the past 20 years I've woken up in the middle of the night to watch F1. Not last year or this year even though I tried twice this year already but I went to bed halfway through dismayed.

I love Ferrari, but being a race engineer and driver I have always lusted over the technology and competition of F1. That just is not the case any more. IMHO the teams have had their balls cut off in numerous areas to where it is quickly becoming a spec racer series and aerodynamics forum. I want them to push the envelope. I want to see motors blowing up because of trying something revolutionary in technology. I want to see someone spank the other guy till the other guy figures out how to spank him back. Free competition within reason is what advances technology which trickles down to everyday vehicles. Instead of saying hey you guys can use KERS to show we are thinking of going green. Limit the amount of fuel per race and let them figure out how to make big horsepower efficiently. Other systems like KERS might come along naturally to be up front and trickle down to production cars. Where do you think Fuel Injection came from?

    LOL
Well Dave, it seems whatever happens, we must not confuse the issues within F1, with facts and basic common sense, it seems this sport is totally void of that concept, and wants to stay that way.

I also read that it is Flav, Bernies mate, that has pushed for the U turn on Brawn getting any cash, another case of disbanding any unity the FOTA may have.
IMO I think/hope Ross B is to clever to rise to the bait.

    No doubt.

Ross is sneaky smart.....I've always liked him as he's always seemed to hold his cards to his chest.

Sorry I'll miss seeing you at Goodwood. Looks like even Lord March is hurting as he's not paying for us to come over the pond this year to help his show......

The FIA would do WHATEVER it takes to keep Ferrari in F1, without a doubt.
