OK, this has been bothering me for some time. Say you are out washing your car (daily driver, for instance) and you need to move it. Well, if you are barefoot you would just hop on in and move, it right? Well, that feels unnatural and weird to have your flesh on the rubber pedals.

Ok...so why is it that the most comfortable thing in the world is to drive my 355 barefoot???

I understand the purpose of driving shoes because of the narrowness of the pedal area. But I always kick my sandals off and drive barefoot. It feels natural.

Anyone else, or am I the weirdo of the Brotherhood??? LoL

    you are the weirdo.

actually good foot wear is a must. But have driven in lesser vehicles with sandles, but they must fit over the entire toe and such [Thinking Hawaii here or SCUBA diving where I must move the truck].

Missing a clutch, brake or gas with nonsense wear is asking for trouble.

Driving barefoot, is not feeling correct to me at all.

NOT wearing properly sized shoes, like too wide make driving any of my Ferraris a real PITA and almost a no-go. Have driving shoes for that. Not racers, but very close.

That MOndial T with it's offset pedals and cramp interior are a must for driving shoes.

Whoa... the serration of the Hill Engineering pedals is so 'severe' and they are so grippy (which most people think is a GOOD thing!), you'd probably turn your foot to hamburger meat if you tried barefoot driving with the Hill Pedals.

    LoL....mine are OEM. ;)

BTW, thank you, Daniel, for expediting (FedEx vs. standard delivery) that trim piece that I broke again and had to reorder for a second time. You are a true asset to this community.

Heck i drive bare foot all the time. Not when Im on a serious run.......but if Im just heading for a quick spin I'll just kick off the flip flops as well.

I have driving shoes that I wear also but I personally think they look geeky. JMHO :) :)

I don't think my bare foot could take it very long sitting at a light with the clutch depressed. I guess it would make me put it in neutral and let off of the clutch more often.
I know in some states it is illegal to drive without shoes.
I thought I was the only one to use different shoes for driving. I call them my Ferrari shoes. I have a wide foot (EEE) and the current shoes I normally wear will barely work right for the pedals on my BMW. I did not even try them on the Ferrari. I have an older pair of dress shoes that are about an inch narrower and I keep them in the car and change shoes just before I drive.

Never driven Ferrari or Maserati barefoot, but long trips on cruise control I'm usually barefoot.

I often drive barefoot in the Ferrari and the Porsche because I have thick callouses from growing up barefoot in Hawaii and long prehensile toes that I wrap around the pedals to grip them better. I can actually pull on the pedals as well as push. Kind of mutant, eh? And yes I have Hills pedals, thank you Daniel. :) Now for you mainlanders or haoles as we say in the islands, spare your toes and wear moccasins at the least.

I don't even like when dudes walk around barefoot to where I can see their hairy toes. Help a brother out and cover your feet. :)

I HATE driving barefoot, so I dont do it. :D:D

Although when I drove a friends 308 GTS QV 2 years ago, he suggested that I take my sandles off to drive the car as it would be a lot more comfortable. :):)

I did, but it didnt feel right. :p:p

I wear US size 14 Nike's and my feet would have got caught in the pedals as the pedal box seems to be smaller in the 308 compared to the 348. :):)

In my 348, sometimes my feet touch the wrong pedal etc..etc. I gotta get some proper driving shoes to wear when I take her out for a spin. :D:D

    Fixed ;)

I have driven my 355 for short trips barefoot, normally after washing it to dry out the wheels etc. Prefer good driving shoes.

I have always driven barefoot and you're right - you feel completely in tune with the car. For instance, how would I know that my throwout bearing was starting to go if I couldn't feel it by the direct touch of the barefoot???

And I thought I was the only one...

I'm not comfortable driving barefoot although I do it when I wear sandals. To me it feels weird.
