How in the world can I sit at home and watch Kimi slide down the timesheet and be thinking, "why isn't he back out on the track yet?" and yet Ferrari doesn't think the same thing? I just don't get how they can make the same mistake multiple times in the same season. I'm not asking for the car or drivers to magically gain two seconds per lap on the track, all I want is for hte team to not be composed of idiots when it comes to strategy.

Regardless Go MASSA! Great to at least see one of the red cars approaching the top of the time sheets.

A lot of Finns have the same as Kimi has though, they rarely show any sign of emotion. Because of this, as soon as kimi isn't exactly on form as people expect him to he immediately gets branded a bumhole who doesn't give two ****s about his job because he gets paid so much and has a WDC. It starts to get boring now (same as for the Hamilton bashing threads, Massa threads or the endless discussion about the FIA impeding LH's championship).

    Not aimed at you Steve:).

If Felipe uses his KERS with in the start to get to P1 with his heavy fuel load, and Kimi uses a 1-stopper we might have a 1-2.

    "Very unusual"???

Have you been paying much attention this season?

Sorry, it's not directed at you....I'm just frustrated with the team, that's all.

I'm hoping Williams gets a break.
Their race should get stronger at the end as it looks like this is how they are strategizing.

    Ferrari seems without direction.
Kimi would be 3rd, 4th, or 5th on the grid if he had moved to Q2 session. Good news for the rest of the year if you look at it that way.

If Kimi can finish second from his grid position what does that say about the value of making it into Q3?
As Hamilton has shown a poor grid position can result in a good finish. There is a benefit to the flexibilty in fuel load that a Q1 or Q2 start position affords.

Someone on the Ferrari team should have known Kimi needed to go back out. I could have told them that, or any of the other armchair Team Principals out there. They seem to exist in their own dimension now, a losing one.

Massa has Kers though so i think hes not running so heavy. Hopefully Kers will put him in front after the first corner. And Spain being Spain... I hope he stays there for the rest of the afternoon!

    Forza Ferrari!

It was Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel who was actually the fastest man in the field.

Once the weights of the cars are published it is possible to work out who has done the best job in qualifying.

It turns out that Vettel, who qualified second, is carrying 5.5kg more fuel than Button - enough for him to be able to do two more laps before his pit stop - and that once the weights of the cars are taken into account, he was fastest by 0.059 seconds.

Massa heavier again has another lap up his sleeve but not as fast as Vettel or Button, although matching Reubeno for speed on corrected weights.

Every extra kg of fuel costs a Formula 1 car 0.035 seconds around the Circuit de Catalunya, and a car uses an average of about 2.4kg of fuel per lap.

Once that is taken into account, the Spanish GP fuel-corrected grid, with estimated first pit-stop laps, looks like this:

    1 Vettel - lap 16
    2 Button +0.059 seconds - lap 14
    3 Massa +0.151 - lap 17
    4 Barrichello +0.172 - lap 15
    5 Webber +0.389 - lap 16
    6 Trulli +0.454 - lap 16
    7 Glock +0.762 - lap 14
    8 Alonso +0.959 - lap 13
    9 Rosberg +1.321 - lap 23
    10 Kubica +1.728 - lap 19

That suggests it could be a really close race on Sunday - with Vettel, Button, Felipe Massa and Rubens Barrichello all very evenly matched, and Mark Webber potentially in the mix as well.
