Hi Joe, I formed a business name and plan six years ago but never did anything with it. I tried to keep the cars I love as a hobby and the cars I restore as a business separate but the Cannonball Countach changed all that. I realized in this economy it would benefit me and my family to diversify and restore vintage Italian cars as well so I launched www.naplesautoitalia.com I'm honored that owners have trusted me with their cars and I will not let them down. Tony
Tony, you are living a dream. Not only are you doing it, but your shop is the ****tttttttttttttt! congratz! I am wishing I could send you a Countach for restoration, but I don't have one .....right now anyway
Does anyone know more about the history of ELA12731, originally black on tan or white and with gold wheels and script, now with black wheels? It supposedly spent some time in a museum in England, but the current owner doesn't know much more about its lifetime. He told me this was the only LP5000 S to get its frame replaced for a QV frame at the factory, although I don't know when this was done. Any info is appreciated! Unless the car was seriously wrecked or completely burnt to the ground. The only circumstances under which I know the Lamborghini has supplied a new chassis, and either way its not a plus for the car's provenance.
It might well be that it was something else that was changed into QV spec, but at least he told me it was the frame. The owner believed the car was delivered new to Switzerland, but would appreciate knowing for sure... Who should he contact at the Lamborghini factory to get a production/delivery certificate or similar? Thank you! Kaare - http://www.timpelen.com/
I can't confirm, 729 and 732 went to Switzerland. Ask a dealer he can ask the factory for the build sheet.
Thanks! Will tell the owner. Yes, looks very much the same. I also remember seeing a black Countach with black wheels at Rainier III's car museum in Monaco in 1996. Sorry, don't know. The current owner has spent some time and money to get the car into good driving condition.
There was an LP500S delivered new to a New York gentleman with black wheels. I wonder if this car was finished that way originally. Note 1986 QV 12824 which was delivered new to the Netherlands with black wheels and XP-10-LX registration. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Also this 88 1/2 QV German-registered F-MS.188, no wing, sport exhaust and front wheel hub spacers (for wider track). Image Unavailable, Please Login
No, the one in Hamburg is a 500QV http://spots.autogespot.com/viewimages.php?id=c214748364810082007092752 http://spots.autogespot.com/viewimages.php?id=0214748364821122006210553
Black with black wheels is more common than I had thought, it seems. Thanks for the info and photos! Thank you for the links!
That car was originally white/white and came from south of germany, just 30 miles from where I lived.
Hi everyone, This weekend, I went to my parent's house and I re-discovered some vintage pictures I took in June 1991. At that time I was a teenager living in Paris. I was already fond of cars and to my surprise, one morning, a Countach was parked in front of my building: what a shock for me who wasn't accustomed to see one! But the best was still to come... During the next days, some other exoticas joined this first Countach and I knew something special was in preparation. Indeed, I came to know that a "Cannonball" was going to be held from Paris to St Tropez. I heard that a guy called Stéphane Ratel (known for the BPR series) organized it. It started one evening and I still vividly remember this day. I took some pictures of the event and I apologize for the poor quality... That white countach I know well, it belongs to a friend and is resprayed black with polished wheels, that time it belonged to the owner of St.Moritz Palace Hotel. It's ELA12732, Marcel took pictures of it in Monaco in 1990.
