    Carreaper gets it!

For those others interested in picking nits...

    Reality check:
It almost certainly is a non-Ferrari.

    Sound is dubbed

It is shot from a low angle to enhance the feeling of speed - thus looks faster than reality.

    Brilliance:
Done in one take, not sped up!

    Great sound track!

Tour of '70s Paris! Look at the cars seen in the movie! Look at the views!

One hell of a run! How many red lights does he run; 24? 25?

Shot from a low angle for more intense experience.

Although it wasn't, I picture this being done in a 365GT/4 2+2 or a carbed 400 - the soundtrack is built in and the car is period correct.

    Regards,

    Art S.

It's on the You Tubes now:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VqHrCLt3Geo

Morning in 1978, French filmmaker Claude Lelouch mounted a gyro-stabilized camera to the bumper of a Ferrari 275 GTB and had a friend, a professional Formula 1 racer, drive at breakneck speed through the heart of Paris early in the morning . The film was limited for technical reasons to 10 minutes; the course was from Porte Dauphine , through the Louvre, to the Basilica of Sacre Coeur.

No streets were closed, for Lelouch was unable to obtain a permit.

The driver completed the course in about 9 minutes, reaching nearly 140 MPH in some stretches. The footage reveals him running real red lights, nearly hitting real pedestrians, and driving the wrong way up real one-way streets.

Upon showing the film in public for the first time, Lelouch was arrested. He has never revealed the identity of the driver, and the film went underground. If you haven't seen this before it is a classic, if you have seen it I apologize, but it's still a classic. Turn on your sound and enjoy

There was a recent post here on FChat concerning the real making of the film.

refine your search! this thing has been discussed SO many times on FChat (& elsewhere). and almost every point you quote has been shown to be BS. given that its essentially a fake, THIS THING HAS LEGS!! BTW; no ferraris were involved, just a MBZ 6.9, and a seriously 'undercranked' camera.......and all the audio is dubbed, and dubbed, and dubbed again......did I say? THIS THING HAS LEGS!

Its called Rendevous. If you run a search you'll find its famous here.

Good example of a short story and story-telling in general. Not english or written though, obviously. My bet it was an easy out for the teacher.

Yes it did not seem to accelerate like I would be expect a 275 to, quite a good film though probaly second favotite at the monment.

My all time favorite has to be Ari Vatanen at Pikes Peak, no ABS, no traction control, no flappy paddle gear box...... no guard rails.....!!!!!!!

    Just huge B*LLS.....

Rendezvous isn't underground any more - I've got it on commercial DVD. The sound and the action don't match at all - the engine screams its head off and the car saunters along. The speeds are modest - nothing like 140 mph.

The first time I saw it - in the '80 I guess - I was impressed. It doesn't withstand repeated viewings.
