Has anyone used these slicks on a GTC/4, Daytona, Boxer or similar? They have a large overall diameter (26.5in) similar to the Michelin road tyres, whilst all the slicks sold in Europe are far too low profile, giving ground clearance problems and looking plain silly.

All the race series for road cars of this era ban slicks but I thought they might be great for track days.

    The 26.5 x 10.0-15 (10'' tread width) tyre fits the 9'' rims, and the 26.5 x 8.0-15 fits the 7.5" rims. available in A300 & A400 compound.

I tried posting in the technical section but no response.

never tried, but i would try the Goodyear blue streak sports car tyres.
The mustang weight was about 1350kgs and power around 540bhp,they were awesome, profile just under 60,fitted on 8 inch rims with ease.

I'm particularly interested in slicks for the circuit.

For the road, and wet weather circuit use I was thinking of Avon CR6ZZ. How do you think the Blue Streaks would compare to these?

The Michelin TB5 or 15 is another option (much used on Comp Daytonas) but they're 24.6in diameter. I have enough ground clearance but they look a bit weird in the wheel wells.

I've just realised I overlooked the Avon slicks at 9.5/25.0-15 which are nominally 25" but quoted slightly smaller actual diameter. Not so bad, but would still prefer the Goodyears for looks.

My car is hopefully 1150kg (haven't quite finished it) & dyno'd at 600bhp.

I had a 512 Boxer, which i ran Goodrich Comp ta r1s on,as i had a set from the mustang (semi wet race tyre),very good tyre R compound and the right size ie 225/65/15 front and rear 245/65/15 rear.
if i still had the Boxer my choice would be the Michelin XWX but if unavailable the Avon CR6zz,like on this Daytona.
reckon the TBS would walk around on the road, but great tatmac tyre.
The Blue Streaks would puncture and deflate as a road tyre, pure circuit IMO.
Sounds like you need slicks for track and well either the TB,Avon or maybe the Comp T/a R1's for road/wet.

That's the plan, and then see which of the road/race tyres is best for racing rather than trackdays.

    Consider this.
many Ac/cobras run the Comp T/as
many Race/rally E-type Jags run the Avons
Many porsche rally cars run the TBs.
