What is the prefered car wax that most people use on their ferraris?
lots of opinions and answers to this question,i use griots garage products.i hate to pay the shipping but they run specials now and then.pinnacle carnuba over best of show wax on rosso corosa looks great
I used tr3 on my 240z and I'm thinking about trying it out on the ferrari,its a polish and cleaner,then wax,I'll let you know how it'll work on my 308 with pic's to come
Griots here as well, though they may be a little pricey, my experience has been they are safe and easy on/off (I have their 6 and 3 inch orbitals as well) ...however, I only use Griots on the Ferrari (which - I believe at least - has "softer" paint), I use all Mother's products on the Boxster (my DD) and Megs NXT on the Acura DD. Seems to be a fairly good system so far...
P21S Silver top (from Detailguy recommendation) on the Ferrari. Haven't done the car yet, but will likely start with smaller areas done by hand late this Summer when I find some time and don't want to drive it some day (as if that will ever happen). Have tried different waxes on the M3 from Griots (and I generally recommend the stuff they sell) to NTech Wax and some others as well. No huge differences as far as I can tell. This is like asking people what oil they use... MB
Lately I have been a big fan of Blackfire wax followed by Griots Best of Show wax. (one is a liquid polymer wax, the other is a carnauba) I have done my Ferrari with this, a buddies Porsche Boxter and I currently have a 928S4 in the garage that is getting the same treatment. I've been very pleased with the results. Two months later, the guy with the Boxster is still getting comments/questions as to what he did to the car to get it to look like new. JIM
I use Zymol Vintage glaze on one customers fleet. After the detailer gets done the cars look amazing! The only thing is that he has to do the whole process by hand(or should I say Palm). And the wax is lifetime refill. Guy has 34 exotics.
Pinnacle, very easy on and off, smells great, nice soft luster look. High price, but not outrageous, I was alot and the value for money was fine for me. Learned about it some years ago on another Fchat thread. Great site at Autogeek where I order various detailing items. Anybody tried the Wolfgang products? http://www.autogeek.net/
Zaino Is really good stuff, plus NXT Generation Tech Wax 2.0 is good stuff. I guess try them all and see what "YOU" like on your car. Car wax is like Beer everybody has their favorite.
I used to use Zymol Ital, but found I can get equal results with P21S (blue top, retails for around $37). P21S looks just as terrific, but has the added advantage that it goes on easier, and comes off MUCH easier, and does not stain black trim. And here's a tip....Harley Davidson shops sell the identical S100 brand (same blue top container) for between $18 to $23. Not sure why, but I guess they don't think bikers will pay as much for wax. quote: "Car wax is like Beer everybody has their favorite." very true!!
I agree, it is all I ever use. I'm sure most of the good ones give a similar outcome, and then technique becomes more important.
I have found Concorso Wax to be an interesting choice. It is enjoyable to apply and remove and contains the high grade carnauba that gives ferrari's that extra shine and protection. Not sure about you guys but for those horrible swirls from others usuing the wrong stuff I have found if you catch a bumble bee, thump it in the head and then use it's ass as a compound pad that works out great and takes the swirls away. LOL. Dang it. Sounded good to me.
sure some are better than others....turtle wax...to....zymol...its all about the applier..not so much the wax...
Do you think that their orbitals are better then the others? They seem to be higher priced, I was wondering why?
I second all the recommendations for Griots. Just waxed mine yesterday, as a matter of fact, used Best in Show, and was VERY pleased with the results. Took a bit of time as I put two coats on, but well worth the effort. What I liked about as much as anything was that it did a very good job of taking care of some irritating swirl marks without having to polish it first. I think it probably just "hid" them for awhile as opposed to actually getting rid of them, but whatever. For now, it looks really good.
I like Zaino brothers, but have recently been using Meguires #26 Hi Tech Glaze. It is pretty easy to apply, and the finish is very uniform. BT Image Unavailable, Please Login
