Long story short. I will not name names to protect the parties. I bought my 2006 F430 about 11 mos ago. The dealer I bought it from (A Lambo dealer) informed me that the car had been lowered to Euro specs by the first owner. Part of the sales agreement was that the car be raised to USA specs. I have it in the sales agreement and I have the service records from the dealer detailing that the car was raised. I brought the car in for its first service about 2 mos ago to my local Ferrari dealer. The car was trucked in to them and the service manager called me as soon as it arrived to tell me that the car had arrived safely and asking me if I knew my car was lowered (since I hadn't mentioned to him that it was.) The service manager states the car is lowered about 1" to 1 1/2" and that he could tell as soon as he saw it. The sales manager at the dealership I bought the car from insists that the car was raised to USA specs and points out the service department paperwork stating the car was raised. There are no other 430's near me to compare it to, and I have never been in the presence of another 430 to tell. The car does not bottom out on normal or spirited driving, it does have skid plates installed, and the plates do scrape on low speed bumps, and most driveway entrances. So...can you tell by the pics below if this is lowered or not? The pics were taken right when the car was first delivered to my house. Any thoughts on dealing with the situation? Looks lower in the rear than in the front. I think the wheelwell-to-tire gap should be equal front and rear.
Definatley looks like its sitting lower in the rear than the front. I love the look of the F430 lowered. Makes it look so wicked. Chris
Sorry for being ignorant but is it imperative that the height be US Spec? The car looks way better that way than the US Spec
I agree with this. Not uniformly lowered. Rear is definitely lower. Front needs to come down 6-8 turns.
It doesn't look lowered in the front, but the rear looks lowered. If you provide us with some measurments we can tell. Take a measurment from the inside of the fender lip to the center of the wheel cap with the car on a leveled surface and let us know.
As others have said, that definitely looks lower in the rear and regular spec in the front. I'd imagine this has a significant and negative impact on handling if it is in fact different spec. My two pence is that the dealer you purchased from needs to make good.
That rear drop is probably affecting aerodynamic performance, too. I would get it adjusted, either drop the front, raise the rear or put it back to factory specs. If the car's under factory warranty, I'd consider returning it to stock. Otherwise, you may have a warranty claim problem with shocks or other suspension pieces should they break. Ask your dealer.
