Hello again. After initally starting to look at the F355 spiders I changed my mind to the 348 spiders after reading the forums in here and contacting the most recommended shop in Dallas, Norwood. Although the price of the F355's were in my range as far as cost, the repairs I kept reading and hearing about were too significant for what I want to keep spending after the purchase.

That said, my problem now seems to be finding my preferred color of 348 spider....yellow. Unfortunately the one yellow spider I see for sell may already be sold. I should find out Monday. The ad is on cars.com and I am attaching the link, but I'm not sure it will work correctly. If anyone knows anything about this car, I'd like info just in case the owner calls to tell me it's still available. Other than that, if you know of any other yellow 348 spider, please let me know.

It sounds really nice, Mike. The only point that made me sit up and shake my head was the comment about a new factory exhaust ($6500!!!!) in January 2009. That doesn't make sense.

Do you mean the cost doesn't make sense or questioning why he would have to do it?

I'm sure he means that most people would rather get a better aftermarket (Tubi or Gothexhaust) system for far less than $6500 for the original, heavier, factory exhaust. Spending $6500 for an original is way too much.

By the way.... I bought my 348TS in Jan 07 from Chad Price in that area. It sounds like this is the same guy. Apex is a reputable nearby Ferrari shop, and I had my car PPI'd there, which Chad helped arrange. The car was a very nice car that checked out well, and Chad seemed like a nice enough guy.

He had a lien on the car. I paid him at his bank (not where the lien was), and he signed a Bill of Sale that I made up agreeing to pay off the lien within several days, and have Title iimmediately sent to me. I had the car loaded up and shipped to me the same day. However, it took over 5 WEEKS for me to get the 'stinkin title, and the owner was listed on the Title as from some car dealer, not Chad (and not where the lien was). So it was not a private sale, and I had to pay tax in my state. I was very angry about this entire situation, and saw NO excuse for him handling things this way with me.

Bottom line: I did get a good car and took possession on the day of the sale in NC, but I would not personally do business again with him due to the way this all transpired. If you do business with him, make sure you have all facts about Title and ownership. I have documentation of all of this. Feel free to PM me if you'd like about my purchase.

Good luck with your 348 search!

Mike, I did the same search a couple of months ago and the best advice I received from members of this forum was to buy the best and well documented car that you can. There were a number of sellers that misrepresented their cars and dicuments that never materialized in the process. Be sure to look for any recent major engine out service as well as the "regulars" that show that the PO took good care of the car. The members of this chat are a wealth of information and may even be able to help you in finding the yellow spider that your looking for. I've had my 348 for a little over a month and couldn't be happier with the car. I bought from an individual seller out of state and while the process was fraught with anxiety it's turned out to be the best thing ever. best of luck to you and happy to have another member join the 348 Brotherhood. If you haven't looked yet, check out www.club348.com technical section for any/all the details you would ever ask.

As the newest member of the brotherhood, I'm afraid that car is sold. It's on it's way to Southern California, it's new home. I'll save all my excitement and feelings for a new post. I did see another yellow spider on ebay. Just came up. It's in South Carolina. Also owned by a guy named Chad. Apparantly guys named Chad that live in the Carolina's have cornered the yellow 348 spider market! I believe it has 38K. Owner says:

    > The car is in fantastic condition. The 30K service was done about
    > 5 years ago at the Lamborghini dealership. The service wouldn't be
    > needed again for about 2 more years or 3000 miles according to
    > Ferrari of Atlanta. Just had a complete oil change and general
    > service about 2 months ago.
    > Everything operates wonderfully. I am including additional pics
    > for you. Any further questions or pictures you desire, please
    > feel free to email me.

    I hope this helps......... Lou

If the major was done 5 years ago, then its about time for another one. Me personally, I wouldn't go 7 years between major's.

Not as awesome as a gothengineering equipped nero 348!

Get the Spider, good choice. I really liked mine.

Wow, nice looking Spider. Almost makes me wish I still had mine. Almost... Those wheels really make the car, though.

    More off topic:
I saw and drove this car....My wife wouldn't let me buy it because the paint was so bad. Around all the edges there was build up. Really poor. You could see it from 10ft.

    Hi M. Cooper,

If you haven't found your yellow 348 yet then this is it.

Alan here;I have a beautiful 348 spider in yellow/blk interior. Dealer serviced by ferrari of Long Island forever. I bought it 5 years ago and have enjoyed 23,000 miles with no issues what so ever. I've replaced tires and I service it at ferrari for maintenance. It's been extremelly reasonable to maintain. The 30K service which was done at I believe 21K was because 5 years had passed and that is the recommended service interval. (actually when the car sits. This one doesn't sit it's really terrific to drive.) I'd have to check with ferrari but based on time I think it is do again in two years. I currently have about 36K miles on it and it can go anywhere.

My collection is very large and so is my college tuition with 4 in at the same time sooooo...
unfortunatelly I'm selling about 14 cars out of my collection and this is one of them. I'd like 69,500 however I am open to an offer. Take Care, Alan 732-558-4916
