355 on eBay

Anybody knows this 355 spider?

I don't know the car but the panel gaps look off to me. The hood and bumper are out of alignment as is the front door (looks high). Then there is the photo of the door striker pin which is the bit that the door latches onto and you can see it has been moved as there is lots of paint chipping.

For the price these are small things that can be fixed but I would make sure to get a PPI to make sure there was no accident damage that wasn't fixed correctly (mandatory to get this on a 355, do a search on this forum).

 

interesting how my research on these and the 360 has educated me. I noticed all those things within the first 3minutes of looking at the pictures, and the door latch is what jumped out to me. Has the door been offline in order to cause this or is there a bigger problem. It is a nice looking car though.

I just wanted to know how many F355 owners boiught their car on eBay? Is eBay setting the new prices on used Ferraris? It seems like every F355 selling on eBay has had some type of issue like salvage, theft, accident, fire, title, etc

 

they did a ****ty job fixing it. Poor car.

Don't let one bad exmaple ruin it for you. There are good cars on Ebay, but they usually don't stay on there long, and the prices are not ridiculously low. You get what you pay for. Don't expect a $50K 355 Spider to be a problem free car, there's a reason why it's $50K. I would budget a little higher and get a clean example, like that other one on there for $75K is probably a great one.

 

Even higher priced ones can have problems. The Fiorano one that I bought for 92K needed 20K in repairs.....

 

Did you find your car on eBay?

 

It was advertised on Ebay as well as in DupontRegistry. Very reputable dealer that paid to have the car fixed.

 

You probably bought your car when the market was good. Today, a $92K car is probably stellar. What did the car need? If the dealer paid the repairs, they must have felt serious guilt, like undisclosed issues.

 

I agree about ebay. I am currently in negotiations to buy a Range Rover defender that I found on ebay. Lost the bid but the owner called me and we actually had a wonderful conversation about the car. He even gave me the number to the mechanic that has worked on the vehicle from day one, called him and he filled me in on every small detail of the car. So don't let ebay scare you, there are great cars on there.

 

I agree with that .... in most cases, who pays more at the end ended up paying less.

I bought the car from Ooley & Blackburn and they just had the car serviced and said it was perfect. I bought the car and in writing they agreed to have the car shipped to my shop for a PPI. Kinda like a post purchase inspection. It needed to have the valve guides 60% leakdown in cylinder 3, headers, cats and alot of other stuff fixed. When I called Mr Blackburn and told him what the inspection had found he said to return the car for a complete refund or he would pay to have the car fixed. I kept the car, took about 2 mounths to fix at a price of 21,000. Then drove it for a month then sold it for the Diablo. And yes the market was ALOT better than what it is now.

 

Wow, incredible. I wish all dealers had that integrity. By the way, I just sold my Diablo for a 355 Spider
