"idiots" is most certainly inflamatory and made by an idiot.

I would fdollow Ferrari elsewhere. I would also check in on F1, though with less interest. I wish the soap opera would end. I think most fans would like that.

Possibly. But, why not just run a go kart race with their logos on it too? Or, how about we just have a big video game with every team making virtual cars?

What Ferrari is fighting for is the soul of F1, not just a race event.

Agreed, in the long run sure everything would go back to normal, but as soon as they leave itll take its toll. Why dont they just leave it as it is, the sport is already great.

No of course not. And it wouldn't be as good for the fans either no matter who you support or follow if it were, without Ferrari to battle everybody else, so it wouldn't be as good entertainment which is what i was meaning in my other post. :)

Will it be w/ Max facing us with 2 British ****** behind him whipping him in Nazi regalia???

    ...on a more serious note...

There is probably a LOT of negotiation going on over the weekend...

I have followed F1 since 1978 (when the great Mario Andretti became the 2nd and last American WDC at the wheel of the beautiful black and gold Lotus). F1 has ALWAYS been soap opera territory. The current situation reminds me very much of the political infighting at the start of the 80s with the wing cars. The difference is that back then they (Max and Bernie) were against the establishment and now THEY are the establishment.

F1 without Ferrari is not an acceptable solution for anyone involved. Every sport needs name brand recognition. In MLB is is the New York Yankees. In the NFL it is the Dallas Cowboys. In F1 it is Ferrari. Ferrari is the brand name that the average man in the street associates with racing. It is the only brand name that is easily recognizable around the globe even to the mainstream population that are not racing fans. This is just a fact... Without Ferrari, there is no name brand recognition and no teams that the general population can relate to or are familiar with. A Ferrari-less F1 would also have considerably less appeal to the sponsors that are the lifeblood of the sport. Without any recognizable teams F1 merely becomes another spec series and the revenue from fans and sponsors will dry up and cripple the sport. I cannot imagine Bernie jeopardizing his cash cow. He will be brought to heel...

All of the players involved are familiar with the fact that Ferrari is the bedrock and foundation of F1s popularity and history. Consessions will happen behind closed doors and everything will be swept under the carpet similar to the breakaway series proposed several years ago...

    Just MHO.

    Frank

It seems to me that a majority of the world's F1 fans follow the driver more than the team...of course that makes them end up following the team that their favorite driver drives for. If Alonzo moves to Brawn or Button moves to Red Bull, their fans will change allegiance to their new teams. And since the F1 fan base in the USA is so small, it really doesn't matter which driver or team us USA F1 fans support. Although I'm sure Toyota, Red Bull, Mercedes and even Ferrari would like to keep us yanks watching their product logos on our TVs.

Yep, Thing is personally I'd rather trust a man that works with his hands.

If there stupid enough to destroy there cash cow, let em! Already I'am laughing Max has U turned with his 2 tier BS and he had to back down over the Medal system. So now how does Bernie save PornoMax more blushes when he up's the cap..:) I make it 2-0 to the FOTA.

I would wager that LMS and ALMS are collectively PRAYING that Ferrari pulls out of Formula 1. The two LeMans series are an obvious place for Ferrari to go race, a pair of nice, RED LMP1's would make for some interest.

Allow me to dream a bit here . . . . as we know, IRL has held meetings to open up for other engine manufacturers down the road. What a coup for Tony George if Ferrari joins the IRL ranks. First the reunification of Cart and IRL, then the movement of Ferrari and perhaps others to IRL?????? Pretty interesting set up. I would say it could be a slap in the face to good old Bernie but as he proves time and again he is numb from the neck up so that doesn't matter. Again, a dream, perhaps.

As for the other debate about F1 going on without Ferrari. . . . my opinion is Ferrari leaving will have a negative impact. As I look at the pictures I have taken of all the F1 races I have attended, by far, Ferrari attire and flags rein among the crowds. Me personally . . . I follow the manufacturer versus the driver as I am a Ferrari fan through and through but according to others here, I may be the exception versus the rule.

One final thought is that I think this whole soap opera is really poor timing as most of us are struggling to varying degrees in these economic times and could really, really use healthy distraction instead of this constant petty bickering. Perhaps it would be good for Bernie himself to go through a bit of a personal economic crisis to bring him in line with the "real world". I think sports money in general is out of control when you hear of ballplayers turning away multimillion dollar contracts for a better deal elsewhere while fans are struggling with putting enough money together to take the family to one game a year. I could go on and on with this topic but will end for now.

Thanks for allowing me to dream and vent.

    Have a GREAT day!!!

They're upping the ante once again. This is starting to resemble an ugly divorce. Hard to say where things will go but I'm guessing they'll continue down hill.

I could not agree more - they don't care about the fans - they need to take a look at NASCAR and see what happens after not caring about the fans for years and only caring about their own selfish business model - resulting in a long slow fatal fall

Great point, one I haven't seen expressed yet. A big problem is that the leadership is at odds with the teams. When things are great (boom economic times), it's ok because everyone is making more and more money so disagreements seem minor or at least can be overlooked, but when things get bad progress cannot be made.

Another great point! My friends that are barely aware of F1 all know Ferrari and associate them with F1. For all Red Bull's efforts, mention them and it's "Red Bull has a race team?"

I can't see that happening under any scenario. IRL does not have a global audience, and it's a spec series.

Apparently poor bernie has lost countles millions through the credit crunch. He has now slipped down the table of the most wealthiest men in the world....poor soul.

These two are highly intelligent people but would be rather useless at playing poker. If i was Ferrari, i would call their bluff. Ferrari is much bigger than both of them put together.

This is a classic case of posturing on a grand scale, unfortunately it appears that some at the FIA hold a grudge, and any slight misdemeanor later on, could be rather harsh.

F1 is too expensive for the teams and fans, but F1 is about the top drivers, top teams and techanical innovation. All these now seem diluted by MM as drivers buy their way in and techanical innovation is stifled beyond the good of the sport.

Personally i do not follow the driver either although i did think MS was the best i have ever seen. I feel rather lucky that i was around when he was!!!
