I love the color combination. $16k is nuts but I think it will be difficult to get over $30k in todays market. A thorough PPI performed by the seller could help alleviate some of the nagging questions or expose some needs significantly lowering the value.

Why would anyone in their right mind pay any attention to a PPI done by the seller? Be better and cheaper to just swear on a stack of bibles that the car is perfect.

Flippin' through the auctions that many times in a year is a cause for concern.

BTW, Silver/Red is a beautiful combo (right Joe). But Silver/Black?

The color has to be a $5K hit. The mileage is at least a $10K hit. Service almost 10,000 miles ago is a $5K hit.
So even if the car was perfect at $45K-$50K, you're looking at $25K-$30K. Just one man's opinion.

Try again with the suggestions given here--you'll sell it. Good luck!!

Tend to agree. Also, this may seem trivial, but when you take pics of your car to sell, shell out $100 bucks and get a professional to help. As Bullfighter said, most of us are at least a plane ride away from you, so the pics are a big deal.

I appreciate your honesty about the small oil leaks etc, so keep those there. Most of us know 20 year old Ferrari's aren't perfect. Also, as many have said, break up the paragraphs. I got a headache trying to read all that.

Suggestion - write up your ad and then send it to someone who is very well read and a good writer (PM me for suggestions) and have them proof it. There were a few errors in your ad that may be a turnoff to some.

Lastly, it's a FERRARI. If you are going to sell it, it should be freshly detailed by a professional. Just my .02.

Silver will detract many, but someone who wants it will buy it because as you mention there are not that many out there. Stay cool.

Thanks for all the comments. I will take the car up in the mountains for some serious backdrops. I will take extreme close-ups to prove no wear to switches and bolsters. The carfax report has some disgruntled potential buyer on there who had a bad experience with the dealer. The interior not a re-dye. The only part that was colored was the rear parcel tray from the usual tan to black which looks better IMO. Car has no mechanical issues and never did. It may be those damning comments on the carfax that is the problem. I'll try and see what if anything can be done to remove them. I will put a slightly lower price on the car but won't dip into 308 price territory yet, she just is too tight with great compression and runs super. I'll photograph the stack of records and list all dates of the 3 majors she has had in the 59k miles on her. I'm betting the carfax is the biggest issue with the color being secondary. We'll see. Once again thanks for the comments.

Having just sold my duplicate 328, here's some things I learned. First off, it is very tough to sell a car that has not had a recent major service. I know this is not really logical, but buyers do not want to face unknown osts right off. I offered my car last year with a service due and it was a big issue. Had the belts done this spring and got good money for it in less than a month.

I've seen a few silver 328's and I know the model shows really well in that color but you need much better pics.

Give the entire history for the car, owners, service records, etc. This builds confidence.

Your buy it now price was not cheap. People can buy nice, recently serviced cars with 30-40K on them for mid 40's pretty easy. So a 50K car needing service is not going to look like any kind of deal.

I'll pay 16,500. I can be there in 5 hours, trailer in tow.

I learned a long time ago from a friend who built award-winning rods to never consider a collectible car a liquid asset that can be disposed of quickly, unless you don't mind taking a quick hit in the wallet. He was dealing with $50K steel-bodies rods twenty years ago long before the glass junk started to flood the market.

If you sound too desperate to sell, this spooks buyers. I didn't see your ad (must've snuck by me on ebay) but your posts here give the impression of urgency and this can work against you in many strange ways.

Still looking for a nice 308QV at a fire sale price to replace my insurance fire(d) 308. Strangely, considering all of the doom and gloom these days, its just not happening even in this shaky market .

At least the Canuck Buck is gaining ground on the U.S. Greenback of late. Maybe a reasonably priced 328 might be coming into my range over the next quarter if the $US continues its pullback as the world comes out of the toilet.

As was said before, too bad that you’re having to sell.

Like many here I spent years researching and looking at several “excellent” examples before making my purchase. Your ad may attract some, but true enthusiasts will pass for two simple reasons:
    1) It’s on ebay
    2) With 59K miles on the clock, your statement: “The last major this car had was at 46K so you should have no issues driving this for at least another 10K before you need to start worrying about another service”, scares the heck out of me.

With all due respect this statement tells me a lot about the seller, leading any well read enthusiast to pass.

I've been using photo hosting sites and Youtube for my eBay auctions. Take two hundred pictures, post them to Photobucket or something, put the link in the ad. It shows you have nothing to hide and shows that you didn't pull four pictures from the net to make a scam ad. But paying eBay to host a lot of pics adds up.

Post a video of the car running, although I remember a GT4 here where the seller got roasted for his clutch performance pulling away from a stop sign.

Santacaferacer, looks like a great car no doubt. The dealer photos are better if you don't mind me saying - the photos in your ebay posting look a little washed out/over developed. The silver is nice but doesn't photograph well in bright sunlight - perhaps try taking some pics at sunset when you'll have a little more contrast and the silver will stand out more.

While the silver is very nice, it's not as popular a color as red. If you have to sell the car right now then you don't have the luxury of waiting for that unique buyer who has a particular interest in a less common color such as silver.

59K miles doesn't seem a lot to me. Frankly, I don't believe half the mileage statements of ferrari sellers - how come all these cars have 35K miles on them and are 20-30 years old. Seems implausible.

Finally, it's a sheit economy right now - lots of folks trying to unload the ferrari to cover loses in the portfolio or simply make the mortgage payment. If you don't absolutely need the money it would be better to wait and sell in a better economy.

I know there are varying opinions but I would not buy a Ferrrari on ebay and, when I was looking for my 328 over 6-7 months, never checked Ebay for that purpose. I use Ebay all the time for buying and selling so I have no concerns with the process, per se. But I think it gives a bad impression - again, JUST my opinion.

The other issue, as noted, is the color. Everyone can talk about how they want "anything but red" but the fact is MOST people want red. Call it the Magnum effect if you want to or anything else that makes you feel good about not buying a red one but the market clearly shows that red is preferred. The car can be great but if it's in the "wrong" color as far as the buyer is concerned, then it's not usually going to be considered. Sure, one could argue that if the car is really good the buyer can either have it painted or "learn to love it." IMHO both options are not commonly acceptable. If it's painted other than the original color, it's worth less and my experience is that if you buy a car in the "wrong" color, you spend a LOT of time saying, "I wish I had found a [whatever color] one.

I don't think the location is that much of a problem - I flew to Vegas to look at, and ultimately buy my 328 but I was also planning to fly to Louisville and drive a rental car 120 miles to look at another one so I don't see Santa Fe as much of an issue. But others obviously disagree.

As far as improving the ad if you plan to leave it on Ebay...As others noted, the ad could be more succinct and with fewer and better pics. There's too much info there and if it were me buying, I would have quit reading about 1/3 of the way through and gone on to something else. If a buyer has specific questions, they will ask them. The way it's written seems a bit desperate, as others have noted which is a bit off-putting. There is too much opinion as opposed to just simple facts. The statement about the service and how far you can drive without worrying about it is a perfect example. Just state when the last service was done, time and mileage-wise, and leave it at that.

Those pictures are much better, and make sure you photograph the interior carpet, it looks damaged/faded in your photos. I would also start the bidding at your reserve, whatever that may be, $25K? It will sell for sure that way. Good luck with the sale.

In the Carfax report there is a section where people that know the car can comment. This is the only case I have ever seen where someone did. There are 2 comments one from someone that inspected the car 2 years a go and one from, I presume, the current owner.

In the comments from the person that inspected it, he stated that the paint is not in great condition and the interior had been resprayed from red to black and it did not look to great either. He also mentioed finding oil in the radiator.

The other comment from the owner says that it runs great and looks good.
