Probably because a C6 Z06 would win (although not by much) by virtue of it's significantly higher torque curve and slightly better power to weight ratio. The Corvette in the video is a base coupe. Jeff
A ZR-1 pumping 622 hp from a supercharged V8 with 600+lb/ft of torque with carbon fibre weight reduction to-boot! it would be ugly.
Glad theres no elitism floating around... Owning a Ferrari is not special. It simply requires writing a check...there are no special driver abilities to get into the club. They dont give you a test on the marquees history. With the state of current Ferrari prices pretty much anyone making halfway decent money can buy one. Lets look at the guys buying a ZR1 or hell even a new Z06...for the same cash they COULD easily buy a Ferrari and join the club. They CHOOSE to instead buy the corvette. They obviously prefer the corvette...its not that they were unable to join the 'Ferrari Club'. So really the bottom line is when you engineer and build your own car THEN you can be elitist and claim bragging rights...writing a check gets you no bragging rights. I have owned most cars and I havent found Ferraris to be any more or less special than any others. They all have their pros and cons. I recently bought a corvette and truthfully (other than the crap interior) I find it more fun to drive than the F355. Finally..I am pro Ferrari...but I am anti-elitism.
How many Corvettes and 430s are manufactured in a year? This isn't a smartass response, I'm just curious. Thanks.
Yes Ferraris are special, F1 multiple world champions, not mass produced like Corvettes or Porsches. Sound amazing and look amazing. Sorry to say this but a Corvette or Porsche are only that. A Ferrari is special, my Porsche is fun to track, my CS is amazing ! Also you need a much bigger wallet over the years to have a Ferrari then a Corvette or Porsche. Not elitism, simple facts.
I have no idea. i guess if someone is insecure and needing to feel 'special' through owning a rarer car then yes, a Ferrari is more desirable than a corvette. I desired the mystique of Ferrari as well...then I bought one. Great car. But not any more or less special to DRIVE than a viper, corvette, etc unless you base it all on exclusivity...which = elitism. A) Chevy and the corvette, Dodge and the Viper have earned their place in racing history. Do a little research. B) YOU arent driving a race car. You are driving a production car. Just because someone marries the daughter of a supermodel doesnt make the daughter a supermodel. A CS on the track is an absolutely amazing car...I know that. However its not significantly better than the same MY Z06 which cost 1/3rd the price. Having a bigger wallet does not make one special...
I believe GM builds approximately 40,000 Corvettes a year, though it has built fewer lately due to the economy.
Don't take what I say out of context . I have owned a 2006 Z06.What I mean when I say that "it's only a corvette" , is that GM build quality will never compare to Ferraris or its looks . Take a 6000-10,000 mile Corvette. It shakes in the front and rattles in the back. In my opinion they are not well built . Yes ! they are the best bang for the buck , very fast, but they just don't last . Also I find there is no car in the world that the owners have pride of ownership like Ferrari .
