There is a small article about 6009 in the french edition of Classic and Sportscars. It follows the one that appeared in the english edition: nice!
Hi all, Here's my latest project: http://www.lamborghiniregistry.nl/default.asp?010030000000/001 As you can see, it is still under construction, the "S" overview will be next. Any correction, additions, remarks, info, pictures highly appreciated! Ciao! Marcel
Accept for the caption that goes with the picture saying the original color was silver. Original color was light green with black interior. Ciao! Marcel
I think this is indeed #6174, that car should be black, and should have the early side markers. #6240 is red, but I understand under restoration, so who knows what color it is now... But I see now that #6117 is also is good candidate! Also black, recently restored... Thanks for the picture! Ciao, Marcel
Hi Marcel, Very nice work!!! Some more points about 6300 in order to complete your registry: - it was delivered on February 27th 1969. I don't have the production sequence. - the interior is tan and not cream. - it seems that you used a picture of 6303 before its restoration in order to illustrate mine. Indeed the two had the same colour at the time, hence the possible confusion! - it is not registered yet since I am going to clear the customs next week, but it will be in a few days with the following registration NE26669. - and last but not least ... it is back on the road!!! A lot of details are still to correct (non period badges on the wheels for instance) but I am seeing the end of the tunnel! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hi Ed, Thanks for the compliment. Please note that Lou Herrin is my co-partner is this project, and if there is one person who has done a lot for the heritage of the Islero's and really deserves compliments it must be Lou! So I guess this is going to be a very interesting Islero Registro... Thanks for the correction on the interior color. I myself usually make a choice between these interior colors, going from dark to light: Brown (real brown, darker then Tobacco) Tobacco (or Havanna, at least darker then tan, I think the factory called it mustard) Tan ( or Camel, sand, I think the factory called this senape) Cream (very light beige, light beige, with just a little touch of light yellow) White (that means really white, like in Islero #6643) Please correct me if I'm wrong, I noticed a lot of people use different names for interior color. And can anybody here describe what pigskin means? Is that a color or the material used? I used that picture because I really think it is #6300 and not #6303, although it was on the site of John S. The white stripe on the US tires makes me think so. Another picture on his site shows the car also in it's early green but with normal tires... In fact, I was waiting for your reaction ;-) We should ask John how he got that picture. Your looks like new on the pictures! So Lecoq polished the exterior and cleaned the interior? I see the "Lamborghini' script on the camcovers are still in black, I assume this is one of the details to correct ;-) ? Cheers, Marcel Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Wow, congratulations, very nice Islero you have! Hope you'll enjoy it on the road for a long long time! Philippe S2 7987 www.lamborghinimiura.com
Hi Marcel and all, Nice work on this Registro! Agree with you that "Luigi DMV" deserves also good compliments. I just looked again yesterday at the DVD he produced about his Islero and the Pocono 2008 reunion, he obviously has great knowledge and great love for these cars. Best. Hi Marcel! I would say that the picture you mention depicts 6303, especially when I take a look at the front orange markers that my car doesn't have and which appears on other pictures of John's car. Moreover I had a chat with him not too long ago and we were amazed that both our cars shared a lot in common at only one number from each other. I specifically mentionned the white striped tyres and John didn't correct me. For the interior colour, it is mentionned as "senape" on the first page of the factory build sheet that I have. To my knowledge it is the italian word for mustard. I would say that pigskin is the name of the material, a leather made out of pig skin. It looks more "textured" than cow hide and you can clearly see the grain of the leather. The details, polishing and thourough cleaning will be done in a second time, because I can't resist driving it... It already took a lot of time so I wanna enjoy it for the summer, it's going to go be detailed in the wintertime! All the best, Ed.
Dear Ed, I have changed the little picture on the Islero Registro, I think you are correct. About the pigskin, is that always after market, or did the factory produce that as well? Please tell us Ed, how does it drive? Ciao! Marcel
The latest edition (June '09) of Hemmings Sports and Exotic Car has a beautiful lime green one in their buyers guide article
Hi Olivier, I haven't driven it yet: only Neldo and Edmond did. Actually it is still in France and I'm planning to get it back to Switzerland next week hopefully. Of course I'll share those first moments and my sensations!!! I can't wait for this moment...
As there are no pictures of this on here! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Fantastic pictures, thanks for sharing! As far as I can see, we can distinguish 3 Isleros in the service department: nice... At that time the service department seemed to be very clean. I saw some more modern pictures where it was not the case.
Engine & gearbox are removed. Next step is all suspension components to dismantled, then I can leave it into the craftman's hands near Tours in France, he just finished a Miura...so I believe he is skilfull enough to start my "baby"...
Last thursday when we drove to Bad Kreuznach we met dutch #6677 at a fuel station, it came from the factory after a engine overhoul.
Hi Raymond, That really is a coincidence that you saw this car! This is the last Islero built, owner picked it up at the factory himself, and drove it only two or three times, and then the car was put in the collection. Car was standing still untill about 5 years ago, when the car was bought by the current and only second owner! It still has the original old Dutch registration plates. Funny thing is, that the factory always claimed that #6674 was the last Islero built, untill this one popped up. So much for factory records.... Ciao! Marcel
