I agree. Kimi did well -- much better than I expected so give him some credit. Massa spinning on the first out lap certainly put him behind but Kimi came close to pole position. Who of us would have thought that?

What's interesting is Nakajima. Look at his weight. He's 10th (and that's not good) but he's got a pretty big load of fuel compared to everyone else in front of him. While the others are in the pits getting fuel, he may be able to run around many of them on a clear track.

Ah yes I like the revisit feature.

Kimi's pace couldn't be possibly linked to the fact, according to Gazetto dello Sport : Alonso has moved to a house near Lugano, in the Italian-speaking part of Italy, which will put him within easy reach of Maranello, while also meaning that he can enjoy the tax advantages on offer from the Swiss....;)

What is mind boggling to me is that Ferrari fans, supposed Tifosi in there name, support a bottom spanked pathetic dictator rather than there team...would you really want to around these back stabbers, it disgusts me.

Times are reset each time a new session begins (minus the guys who dropped out, they keep their time & position). So actually, yes he was 10th but thats 'last' place in reality in 3rd quali. So the guy placed 11th could be 2 seconds quicker than nakajima's time in tenth, nakajima is still ahead.

Hamilton changes gearbox, he will be last on the grid.

Its long overdue and well done, but compared to him team mate Kimi has not dominated him like he was predicted to. Last year in equal machinery he was soundly beaten. Is he back...hard to say. There is a long way to go for both Ferrari drivers. This year we shall see if Felipe was a one hit wonder and we will see if Kimi can be the "iceman" again. Certainly one good result in way over a year is telling but hardly the whole story. I have criticised Kimi here as I was a very big fan of his.

Fact is...his (Kimi), job is on the line and it was made public before the year started, not Felipe's. I would say that pretty much sums it up as far as who is valued at the team and who could be on the way out if more results like this for Kimi are not attained. I have faith Kimi can meet the challenge but Im not blind to his lack of performance either, and evidently neither is the team.

I think most of the front runners are expecting an early safety car period.

So ... which driver is going to get pushed under the bus to make the fuel strategies work? ;)

I think maybe Massa was figuring that the pit "strategists" will screw up the refueling strategy, anyway.
(As they did to him last year at Monaco ---- not to mention what happened at Valencia two weeks ago.)

I suspect teams can expect a SC period, but Ferrari has done pretty badly at adapting to SC periods lately.

Somebody needs to remind Lewis that this is F1, not "Too Fast, Too Furious" drifting. ;)

But then, *all* the cars looked pretty loose out there. And they have 78 laps of that to come.
I have a feeling that anyone who finishes will be in the points.
    This could get ugly.

I hope the teams brought *a lot* of spare noses.
    (Carbon fiber souvenirs for everybody)

Worse: penalties for all the replacement engines, gearboxes, etc. after this carnage could really mess up the grid in Turkey.

+1 all bets are off this year and with no break to Turkey this could be real fun! Id love to see a red team 1-2 for once! The start will be very interesting!

I think he's talking about the race, not qualifying.
Kazuki has almost 20 kg of fuel or 11 laps more than pole sitter Button.
36.5 kg or 20 laps more than Vettel. I think he will get past Vettel and maybe a couple others eventually.

He could get past Massa while the pit screw read the instructions on the fueling rig ... during the pit stop. ;)

Any bets Massa will be carrying around several extra laps of fuel, most of the race? :p

Someone else asked this earlier, but no one has answered yet. Is the start to turn 1 enough to use KERS? If not, maybe Rubinho may get past Phil, and others non-KERS cars may get ahead of those with KERS.

Totally disagree. IMO, Kimi has never been beaten by Massa in equal machinery. Last years long wheel-based car was nowhere near designed for Kimi or his driving style. Compound that with the cars poor ability to get heat into the tires made it worse. Not to mention the freakish bad luck in many races...Spa, Britain and Canada to mention a few. The car was perfectly fit and designed for Massa plus the rules and massa's unbelievable good luck were definitely in his favor. No domination from Massa at all. He was able to drive a car that was one of if not the fastest car on the grid and suited perfectly for his driving style for one perfect lap in quali which put him in front where all he had to do was stay in front. Massa is pretty good with a car that is one of the fastest on the grid and is set up perfectly for him and where the aero rules make it extremely hard to pass if you're in front. If those variables are not in place then Massa is just one of the drivers. Kimi has never been a great qualifyer...he hasn't needed to be due his incredible racecraft, when he has a decent car to drive. Kimi's past racing is proof enough of where the pecking order is between kimi and massa is...btw, remind me which driver is a WDC and what are their respective salaries??? The fact that kimi drove a car that was so incredibly difficult for him to drive and yet all it took was some heat to finally get into the tires for him to set the record fastest laps in a season shows ...again...how talented of a driver he is. His motivation has never left...Ferrari are finally getting the car in the ballpark of "right" for him. Kimi doesn't need to prove anything...his career has done that. Massa is the one who needs to prove that he's not a one hit wonder. ;)

    IMVHO. :)

It might be that Massa's having something to prove explains why he seems more motivated than Kimi does at times.

I'm looking forward to the race. Could this be a break out for Ferrari? We'll see. I know Ferrari isn't going to win the Championship at this point, but I would like to see them competitive.

Touche my friend, all the griping about Kimi, give me a break, it is patently obvious he is or is one of the most talented drivers in F1 period.

    Jessiqa Pace :D

Everyone is whining about how sick they are of Brawn winning. Really? Because I swore another team was good at the same thing for quite a few years...

Kimi is one of the most talented drivers out there. Is he back? i have no idea yet. He has shown and gained more respect from me since Bahrain, so yes, i do really hope he's back. I've said it many times. Drivers like Kimi's calibre should be at least a triple WDC.

Sort of. More so for massa since he was an extra 20 meters or so... Kimi can deploy it for a short time, hopefully enough to put himself next to button (i believe Kimi starts on the inside?)and he can KERS his way all up the hill and take the position

If Mac could have given Kimi a car that would have been more reliable, he would have been a triple WDC. ;)
